Put it this way...if a wheel manufacturer makes it onto Gran Turismo...its a 10/10 wheel company. This gives you companies like Rays Eng, Enkei, O.Z. BBS, SSR, etc. These are quality wheels, with tons of engineering supporting their original designs. Consider these wheels as a "top tier" selection.
The "problem" (which is just opinionated) with companies like Rota, neo-Konig (used to have all original wheels), Drag, Spun, etc is that they are really just flat-out copied designs with minor tweeks (if any). Its like buying flea-market Oakley Sunglasses (only to have the paint dribble down your nose 10 minutes after walking around with them in hot sun). They are just copied designs, manufactured more cheaply to be more available to a younger crowd.
I would consider Rotas, etc to be more of a daily driver wheel as opposed to a racing wheel. They are not meant to withstand the forces thrown at them during tracking. Like others have said, just be a smart driver. Do not run directly over potholes, etc (which you should watch out for with any wheel), and you'll be fine.
There is nothing wrong with buying/owning Rotas...they are insanely popular and do fit Hondas/Subarus really well. I think people are just starting to make a shift down other paths since probably 80% of members on Team-Integra/Honda-Tech have either Rota C8's, C10's or GT3s.
