Prozon's '93 GS Build

However, I think you were right. I loosened up the valve and it rolls over. Maybe it's just that.. could be bent, but my thoughts are valve lash needs adjusted. Going to do that.

No lift for me either. Just a shop. :D
(Oh and a forklift for when it's needed.)

However, did the valve lash and it didn't help. Started pulling it apart. Got the cams out. Need to drain oil and antifreeze.. pull the rest of it.. blaaah.

I am crazy good at accidentally double posting.

Integra Fail.
Engine needs to come out again.

So as some of you know, I have this '93 Teg.

I bought an engine for it, stuffed her in. Put 1100 miles on the car.

So I was driving down the road at a steady 50mph or so.. and I hear this loud knocking kind of sound..
I pulled over and had it towed home.

My first thought, the timing jumped a tooth..
Checked that, didn't seem off..

Figured somehow I bent a valve.. seemed stiff and possibly caused by the original thought that I jumped a tooth on the timing.

Well I pulled the head, checked them out and they seemed fine.
Then I was staring at the block, and my dad poked one of the pistons. It seemed like it was higher up then it should be.. well it dropped.. quite a bit..

Pulled the oil pan to find it was full of metal shavings and one big chunk of metal.

I pulled the number three piston, which was what had dropped.. and I see that it has absolutely no bearing left. It was all sitting in my oil pan.

Needless to say I am one unhappy camper.

Alright so if anyone is wondering, I lost my rod bearing on cylinder three. Popped the main bearing to see it's got a lot of miles on it.

Jason has convinced me to turn the crank. Called the machine shop and for main and rod bearings, plus a full gasket kit and turning the crank it'll cost me $300. Damn I love that machine shop. :D

Then I just have to get new rings and a timing belt kit and my teg will be back on the road, BETTER THAN EVER.

Glad you're making progress. I wish I had all that technical know how!

Thanks haha. Just keep reading here. I learned all of my Integra knowledge from reading here, reading my manual.. and doing stuff to it. :D

Update!

Took the crankshaft to the machine shop. (Chitwood Automotive Machine ) They will turn the crank, then order my new main and rod bearings, as well as a gasket kit. Paid for it all. I'm going to go buy piston rings when I get a few more bucks. (Hopefully should be very soon.)

Better to do it right the first time instead of having to pull it apart again later ;)

Remember to plastigauge your clearances when you bolt it back together to make sure the shop got it right.

Hey Jason, I was meaning to ask you. Did you do anything to your heads as an upgrade/performance thing during your engine build?
(I'd read your thread but i'm too lazy. :D )

For the initial rebuild, no. I had the valves cleaned up, some of the valve guides replaced, the valve seats machined, and the head resurfaced.

Since then, I bought a new cylinder head (P8R) which has larger (33mm) intake valves, Larger cams (crower 403's), Crower springs and retainers, Blox cam gears, and a Skunk2 intake manifold.

I took a cutting bit and a dremel and took away some material in the intake ports of the head to increase the blow a bit, but didnt do anything elaborate or extensive.

Hmm. I was trying to think of a cheap way to gain a little power. I was thinking the head needs some upgrades. Not really sure where to go on that. But planning to run a turbo down the road, I don't know what to do to the head. >_<

Well the crankshaft is done, I didn't pick it up but I looked at it. It's nice and shiny. All polished up.
The bearings should be here.... today.... I'm waiting on my paycheck, then I can pick up my crankshaft and parts. I'll also be getting the rods checked out to make sure everything will be fine.
