coming along great!
you've kinda inspired me to build my own engine....
if you can do it... so can i !!!!!
Trust me I keep wanting to pawn off the install on someone else, lol. If I can get help with the timing belt I think I can do it all on my own. In that instance I would be able to get the seals and replace them without concern.

With the cheap seals that you bought were they OEM or Autozone?

Have you looked up a how to for the timing belt?

Heres a link for a 94 ls and the O ring im talking about. I go oem 99% of the time with replacement parts. Seals/gaskets are usually inexpensive. I cant remember nor could i find which seal is on the pulley side. Gotta ask my friend again when i actually get to replacing it.

tip: some dealers mark up the price more than the list price. I call other places when thats the case. And i often end up buying a part from honda not acura if they have or can get the same part number.

Ok picked up the timing belt and oil today, have the new thermostat (the right one this time), and just in cases I bought a new powersteering filter. Going to pick up the waterpump tomorrow morning and get started on pulling everything apart.

Saturday down, and I'm in just about the same spot I was in before the weekend started. I removed the rest of the stock header but couldn't get the clip undone for the O2 sensor, also removed most of the intake manifold nuts but can't reach the last one. Drained what was left of the oil out of the original motor (surprisingly there was quite a bit in it) so I want to rule out lack of oil for the thrown rod. Finally decided to take a break from the old and work on the new ( I total buggered this up!) pulled the timing belt and did the water pump, no problem. then I realized I was doing the timing belt part completely wrong! Brilliant! I tried adjusting the crank like the manual said but apparently skip the part that tells you not to turn it clockwise. I only turned it a few milometers (really hoping that I didn't tweak anything) So now I'm afraid to adjust the cams. Does anyone know if it will be ok, I can't afford to damage this motor as well.

Sunday and well I didn't do anything with the car today. I was and still am a little discouraged from yesterday, I'm leaning toward saving a little longer and getting it done by someone who know what they are doing. If I can pull the motor out myself I will be really happy. Then all I will need is a pro to make sure my timing belt is proper and well installed.

Ok second attempt to do this, wish me luck, lol. If I am unsuccessful this weekend it is going to a shop for the work. =p lame I know.

I didn't get a chance yesterday I wasted a bunch of time checking out a header I installed! =P It turned out to be really messed up and since I don't have a car right now it took me 3-4 hours just to go find out it wasn't worth it. So I came home and managed to get the timing belt on, BUT it's loose and I think it needs to be adjusted better. I'm heading out to my car now to try and get the motor out of it, that may lift my spirits.

Update I'm almost certain that the motor is ready to come out. I need to take a quick break and pick up some baggies to put bolts in to so I know where they go afterwards. I also got food (pizza came a few moments ago) so I snacked on that even though I shouldn't be. Once I come back I'm going to mark some things and try for the final work of pulling the motor.

I got the motor out! Finally just finsihed cleaning up but still have to fix the mess I made (one of the axles I think that's the part pulled out and leaked fluid all over my parking stall) tomorrow I will buy some industrial cleaner. Will call a scrap thing to come get the old motor out of here as well as the 95 exhaust manifold since I don't need either. I also noticed the rear mount was broken luck me! Actually yeah I've earned enough of those points or credits from autozone to pretty much cover a new mount. I will post pictures tomorrow as well. I'm tired! and really really dirty, ugh.

Progress. :thumbs up Dont forget to pull off any parts that might still be good and reuseable/resellable. Youre officially more experienced than i am. haha

Did you rent or borrow the engine hoist?

A friend dropped it off last weekend and the most I used it was to struggle moving it around and into my kitchen, thankfully it will be gone this week or this weekend.

I already pulled everything that I could use some of the parts I was hoping to use are worse on my motor than the new one, so I'm going to have to go to Honda or Acura and buy them. Since a lot of the transmission fluid leaked out I have to get some of that too, I hate that it smells so bad!
