Ok so today I've decided to clean up the powersteering and install all new fluid. So I'll be making a trip to autozone for cleaner and stuff. While I'm digging around in the engine bay I'll remove more of the motor parts.

To say that I was a little naive would be an understatement. I had expected the cost of the motor and work it involved to be 825. 650 for the motor and 175 for the labour, ugh here's the truth. It cost 650 for the motor and 825 for the labour so the total is about 1400 and that's minus the timing belt and water pump cost/ labour to install. Needless to say I'm a little put out, since I was, working on the car didn't go well. I'm not going to back off though I'll still try to source a motor and see if I can find somewhere that can do it for less.

It may be hard to find someone that will do it for too much less but i encourage trying rather than not. Shopwise is what im talking about. People you know are always another story. I thought the bf was going to help with it.. or rather i assumed since he setup everything with the shop.

I would but it burns when i pick one up. So i seek guidance from fortune cookies. They taste better.

I happen to have one right next to me. lol Lets see what it says..... "Accept compliments and give praise." I only do that on weekends.

I found a motor this weekend off of craigslist and it's seems in good condition. It's out of a 95 LS the miles are kinda high but it looks to of been rebuilt, it definitely pulled well and drove smoothly. Lucky for me it was still in the car so I was able to hear and drive it (I miss driving!) the owner will pull it sometime this week and bring it down. I will do the install once it's here, which will be a little time consuming but it will save me a lot. When I was testing the motor the owner rode along with me and was commenting on my driving it was really funny.

Didn't have the means too, it has some oil around the oil cap, and some on the front but it's from a leaking powersteering line.

I suppose if you find the gasket is bad you could replace it while its out of the car and easy access but id be more concerned about internally like bad rings or valve seals. This will be a pain in the ass if you find out after that the compression numbers are way off.

If you half mechanically inclined if you put your mind to it you can have the engine swapped in 3 days... I had never worked on a fwd before so I bought a repair manual and sat in the shop from about 9am to 10pm getting aggravated and going for breaks of coarse... Took me 3 days.... Takes alot of wiggling if your taking the engine out of the top.... Just when your ready to pull it out of the car make sure the passenger side is way higher then the drivers side in order to clear I think I was tipped about 45 degrees or more
