I wouldn't say you have to, but it won't hurt. It'll help your alternator work a little less. If you can see your lights dimming, that'd be the first step I'd take towards upgrading the electrical system. Actually, check your factory grounds first, make sure they aern't all crusty.

I put the box together today.

Since I don't have air tools to tack the boards together, I had to use sheet rock screws. I drilled pilot holes to make sure I didn't split the wood, and I drilled open the tops of the holes so I could recess the heads of the screws.

When building a box, you want to put the back on last so you can seal around the front panel first. Then when the rear panels is on, you can seal it's seam by reaching through the subwoofer hole.

Didn't take a pic of it completely put together, but I'll be carpeting it tomorrow anyway. You'll see it then. :)

One 3X2.5 ft. sheet of 3/4 inch MDF, for the box.
Dynamat the car, you mean? It's already Dynamated.

Always make sure your sub and terminal cup are mounting directly to the wood for a tight seal.

12 guage speaker wire.

Added a bit of stuffing, keeps the wires from vibrating against the box.

All done!

It fits pefectly behind the driver side rear seat back, it goes right to the split of the seats. Unfortunatley, I can't flip the tonneau cover completely open without hitting the box just barely. Shoulda made the box 1/4 inch shorter, oh well. The box with the sub weighs 27 pounds.

Tomorrow I'm gonna track down a lumberyard that has MDF in 1/4 inch and get crack-a-lackin' on the panels for the amps.

Well, that's not the main reason people put stuffing in sub boxes. Stuffing affects the rear soundwave of the sub, and "fools" the sub into playing as if it's in a larger enclosure. Any given sub will play slightly differently when put in a different size box. My box doesn't really need any stuffing, but it won't hurt to have some in there just to stop those wires from vibrating.

Presicion Power PC4400

This amp will be running the 4 front speakers, it a 4 channel, 100x4@4ohms. But since component set speakers are 6 ohms individually, the amp will only put out about 75x4 when seeing that impedance. The higher the impedance an amp sees, the less power it can put out, but the upside to that is the more you increase impedance, sound quality also increases, and the amp also runs cooler, which increases it's lifespan. The front channels will power the tweeters, the rear channels will power the mids, the amp has internal electronic crossovers.

Presicion Power PCX 480

This amp will run the 2 rear speakers and the sub, its a 4 channel, 80x4@4ohms. Gonna be running the rear speakers straight up, using their passive crossovers, running at 4 ohms and getting 80 watts each. The sub will be running at 4 ohms and get 320 watts with the amps 2 rear channels bridged.
The rears:

MB Quart....see it's little passive crossover in the lower left, kinda hidden behind wires.

I'm hoping to get the panels for these amps made by the end of this weekend, cut and carpeted.
