lowering springs are soft. period.

lowering springs are soft and made for comfort.

skunk2 never denied being group a autosports. it says it on the bottom of their website...

this

for lible. skunk2 never denied not making their own products, they dont say they make their own products. They do their own RnD and designing in house. they then ship it out to china to get mass produced. the question at hand is their actual rnd process. Group A Motorsports is on the bottom of the skunk2 page. it says "2011 © Copyright Group-A Autosports ·" IMHO thats not hiding anything its in plain sight.

edit: this thread is going nowhere. Very few people actually have a grasp of whats going on, people are making shit up and not seeing the obvious.

Clif Notes for the entire skunk2 debocle:
1: lack of quality control
2: :Lack of an RnD process (he says she says)

Skunk2 claims to do RnD in house as well as design
Skunk2 never claimed to not be group a autosports as its listed under their website "2011 © Copyright Group-A Autosports ·"
Skunk2 never claimed to manufacture their own products.
China? No

A libel suit would be weak for S2. They would need to be able to prove that those posts were false (which if those products did cause damage would be difficult) and then to even make it worth their wile they would need to prove by how much it negatively affected their business. S2 would have better representation but this is civil court, its a ends with a judges verdict and reasonable doubt.

Additionally, the two guys, since they are already involved in the suit, could turn around and file a counter suit about anything from harrassment to false advertising.

I doubt S2 would front so much risk for so little reward. They wouldn't gain much from a win and would lose enough to make it very unattractive. Not enough to hurt the business, but they would have lost money and face. I think Skunk2 is a decent brand that has made a few bad judgement calls and decided to get into forum arguments instead of ignoring the polarized audience and addressing the issue that was causing the polarization.

The skunk2 reps just kept trying to shout down the haters instead of directly contacting and solving issues for people that were struggling with their products. And no business should consider themselves above that. I've worked for companies much larger that have taken much more proactive approaches.

And why is that?
poor joke referring to another thread kinda. or referring to the fact that I would want nothing to do with obama. and before you tell me how much better he is than bush, I didnt like bush either  its like saying Kim Jong-il was "better" than hitler. they both sucked and we can/should do better

As much as I have always hated Junk2 and even with what has transpired in the last week, IMO getting the most pathetic ends of the internet ('hackers'?) is stooping to their level and then digging a hole to go lower.

I think an important distinction needs to be made on what a Denial of Service is. It is not harming the hardware or hurting anything, it basically just gives their server more requests than it can handle and so no one is able to connect. That's basically it in a nutshell. People won't be able to go to Skunk2 for the day.

But there are ways to protect against DDoS, and it depends alot on what Skunk2's server hardware is, if they have a good network admin, if they have a dedicated server. Also depends on the number of people who are willing to initiate the attack, if it's not many people, the site may work and be slightly slower.

DDoS's can get really complex and they have been used in the past to extort companies, you pay us we'll stop the attack, etc.

I think it'll be interesting to see if anything happens, I don't think it's a stooping thing as much as a joke on them for an afternoon. Maybe we'll see another set of bounties out next week for whoever originally posted those DDoS images, hahaha.

IIRC I saw something that they were trying to get into his email and post them up for public consumption?

And they already posted up all the owner's private info (phone number, address, etc etc)

Someone, from 4chan I believe, did a background check on the owner of Skunk2. I am sure that someone would try to get into his email, if it hasn't already been done. A DDoS attack would cause pretty much no problem for them because: 90% of the people won't know why they can't get to Skunk2 and will try again later, and the other 10% will visit Skunk2 during the day a couple of times to see if anything has happened (Hey! Free Marketing!)

Personally, I think the whole situation was stupid. Skunk2 shouldn't have taken the bait in the first place, I've now read every linked thread and post by either side, I believe, and there wasn't really a need for Skunk2 to get involved in the threads, or issue a 'bounty.' (Edit: Which as of 1am PST had over 27,000 views on H-T. And all 700 posts are pretty resoundingly negative)

There were plenty of Skunk2 supporters present in the threads that looked at the information thrown out at them and came to reasonable conclusions without Skunk2 needing to try to browbeat everyone down. In fact, in most cases, the OP of the highjacked threads were the most articulate defenders. And several people chimed in to say that in cases where Skunk2 products were faulty/sub-par, the company stepped in to make it right. I don't really give a crap about country of manufacture, if any of us did we wouldn't be wearing Nikes, drinking espresso, or typing away on our hipster Apple laptops. And let's not even get into that whole harddrive debacle in Thailand, I mean Taiwan seems like a sunny dream compared to what Thailand is like... And if those guys were really touting "All American Manufacture" we wouldn't be having this conversation because they wouldn't own a computer, just saying.

The way this whole situation blew up made Skunk2 look like they were trying to tie random car enthusiasts to some railroad tracks. It didn't help that they lost their s*** because of a little trash talking on Honda-Tech... I mean, did they even know about Honda-Tech? That's pretty much the sewers of the internet right there...

I don't think any of us needed to be told about the history of the company, sounded pretty rudimentary as far as aftermarket car companies go. Start up making copies of existing products>Make some money>Begin R&D on New Products with that money>Success. And I was kind of irritated how they were throwing out names like Skunk2 is doing back alley deals, I mean seriously, if you do a record search on my name you'll see a few DBAs listed with the government. Most business owners have more than one business entity to handle some of the lateral, but necessary, functions for all sorts of reasons. Different structures are necessary for different tax breaks, they probably had to start a separate entity in order to do business in Taiwan, etc, etc. Don't be surprised if S2 has more than just YoYo and Group-A, there's probably a couple more floating around.

Am I disappointed in Skunk2's products, nah not really. I am pretty disappointed that they didn't just try to stay classy and aloof from this whole situation. I am torn between how douchey Signalpuke and BlazedD were and how much Skunk2 acted like a tool.

I am totally against all the internet-PI's that were tracking down S2's owner's info though. 4Chan usually just means to make things a joke, and I would be pretty disappointed/upset if it turned out that he got his house egged or his car broken into or something because of that information.
