It's been a while,

Almost sold this car, Couple of hits then decided not to. Then I let it sit for quite a bit. Had some Birthday money to spend so I went ahead and bought a cheap ebay header for $60 bucks

I wanted to go quality but with the drop I have and where I live I wanted to see how the lower section would clear. I have seen so many headers with the bottom piece smashed flat. I figured for $60 I wouldn't worry too much about it getting damaged to see how things work out. Then maybe upgrade in the future.

Well, First order of business up on jack stands

Here's the goods, I ordered the stainless one but the sent me this. Whatever ha, Looks ceramic coated but I don't think it is. Smelled horrible on the first start up and was smoking and burning off this coating or paint. Went away after 20 minutes of driving.

So, I started the install from underneath the car, I didn't get too many pictures though. Removed the old piece and that bar that connects the cross member to the frame for extra working room. Once I came up to the top I started working on the exhaust manifold bolts. First bolt, SNAP, broke the bolt right off the manifold stud. Damn! The a few of the others came out fine, Then one more the bolt got stuck on the end of the stud and the whole stud just came out of the head!

A quick trip to the auto store and I sourced some bolts to just go directly into the head. The block underneath was pretty dirty, I took a little time to clean it up. Nothing major but before and after. You can see where it's missing a manifold stud too lol.

Wire brush! I wanted to degrease it but then I would have made a big mud puddle under the car preventing me from finishing.

For the top I also removed one fan and the AC line bracket to allow for room during the install. The fan made it back. I chose to leave the bracket out. O2 sensor position was just like factory, the bottom piece is touching my oil pan. Just slightly. I have heard some guys heat and bend the pipe or use a hammer and dent the oil pan on that side. So a little bit of a clearance issue there as to be expected with ebay stuff. Everything bolted up well, no exhaust leaks.

Test drove fairly well. Honestly I am hard pressed to feel much of a difference. It is still stock exhaust all the way back from the header. Hoping that once I get that un corked the power will free up some. Overall it was a decent install and it looks pretty nice!
