90 DA9 LS "Project Backup"

Well, I had a lot of stuff planned for today but only got a few things done. I had to rotate the tires I bought because in the frantic parking lot switch some of the one direction tires were put on the wrong side.

While I was doing that I wanted to take out the air intake resonator located beneath the intake in the passenger side wheel well. Everything was going smooth until I hit the last bolt on the bumper side. Looks like the best way to get to it would be to remove the bumper. But I didn't go that route, After messing with trying to get a little wrench in there I use some big tin snips I have and just cut the stupid thing off of the last plastic bracket.

Ugly isn't it, I can notice a little more tone in the intake sound and what seems to be a little bit more pick up. Removing this has opened another hole for air to come in the intake box and some cooler air to come in from the wheel well area possibly. A nice free mod but was a pain to get out.

Other than that I pulled my heat shield and got that guy painted. The valve cover is screaming to be cleaned up but I want to do it right and pick up another valve cover gasket set and an aluminum cam seal while I'm at it. So that's going to have to wait till later.

Messed with my front seat some more, Trying to get the duct residue off of it from the previous owner taping over the tears in the seat. I have a plan to just patch the seat up for now, Hopefully work on that tomorrow night.

I have plans to run this thing on Friday night and try to see what kind of 1/4 mile times I can get in it's stock form. So I'll let you guys know

Well, Remember how I've been saying my seat is messed up, Here is what it's been looking like. I can't find a new seat plus money is tight anyways after the rims were bought, So went ahead and did some stitch work on the straight rips in the seat and back rest, then you have the big hole left...

So I found this patch at the store, it's an Iron on patch that I sewed on, in digital camo grey that actually matches the seat pretty well. Here is what I ended up with.

Pretty raw looking, but I dig it. Why? Because race car. :p

Also got this in the mail today

New speedo cable, No more crazy speedo cable noise for me. Going to wait till I can get my LED lights for my gauge cluster and knock out two projects at once

Hit the track this evening, Got 3 runs in. Here is my best one.

60ft - 2.43
1/8 ET - 10.76
1/4 ET - 16.75
1/4 MPH - 83.72

Not bad for a bone stock DA. Plus I have the 90 model which is rated 10 less horsepower than the 92-93. I also weighed my car, 2717 lbs, 1/4 tank of fuel and me. I only weigh 140lbs though.

I don't know about those time so I'm going to just say brilliantly done ( I've never seen drag). Your car is coming together bit by bit.

Few things came in the mail today,

My LED's for the gauge cluster,

Also the Blox cam seal, Looks a lot smaller than I thought, hopefully it fits ok.

Just need to pick up the valve cover gasket and some paint. Not sure on the paint color for the Valve Cover though. I originally wanted to do a wrinkle paint in red, But now I'm thinking to stick with the OEM black but do it wrinkle paint. Thoughts?

Started working on my speedo cable and LED cluster yesterday...

Got the dash trim out, Glad I didn't break anything!

2nd was getting the cluster out

Here is the old speedo cable, The grease looks pretty bad, this grease is also in the cluster where the speedo cable goes in also. I plan on cleaning that out and putting some new grease in.

So far I have fed the new cable through and put the LED's in the cluster, Have to wait till I'm off work again to finish putting everything back together. Hopefully that noise will be gone and I am rocking some amber LED's 8)

Well put my cluster back in yesterday evening and my gauge lights won't come on and my turn signals do not work either. The other stuff does light up like the CEL battery and seat belt lights.

Have to check my fuses I guess.

Does the trim piece with all the buttons like hazard, cruise, defrost, etc have to be on for everything to work?
