Prozon's '77 Jeep Build

I got a little more done yesterday. I sanded off some more body filler concealing rust.. got everything sanded down and smoothed out, then I put the first coat on. I didn't do the windshield because I was planning something different, but I think I will go through and do it today, I have to make some more patch panels for the fenders, so hopefully it all turns out good.

And after I welded in the last patch panel I was thinking "Damn! I didn't take a before picture." But I guess I did!

Finally picked up some bolts I was missing. I have a few more things bolted together. I need to go get some more paint for random things, and then get the supports and wiring on.

It's getting closer.. slow as all hell though..

Well, little more progress. I need to find a few misc. parts that went missing ages ago.

Engine is all together, just need the heater hoses and four new spark plugs. Might be running today, assuming nothing goes seriously wrong.

I ran out of loom after that. I need to pick up some more tomorrow and get a new alternator on it.

Well, I finished wiring most of it, I need to get some screws to secure some things. Then I just need to pick up a starter solenoid and a new alternator.

You can't see any pictures? Can someone else confirm this.. i'm posting from my Facebook, but all the pictures are the same, so if you've seen some you should be able to see them all. Try refreshing it.

I have, there's just a bunch of space between the posts, no pics.

Finished securing the wiring for the engine bay and filled the oil. I need to get a battery for it so I can test the light wiring. I started cleaning up the interior so I can paint it- I was having issues getting the wiring unplugged from the interior. I need to rebuild that harness as well.

Interior:

Wiring:

I absolutely hate wiring from the 70's. Basically every switch had a little label over it. For example, if there was a windshield wiper switch- above it would be a little thing that said "Wipers" and then there would be a light bulb for each. But for some genius reason- all of the light bulbs have a separate wire in the harness. There's probably twenty little wires running individual light bulbs.. I am going to cut all of them out, and run a single wire to put lights in a few places. I will also be building a new dash for it, so it's just easier to set it up to have less wiring. I also have a newer style fuse box I think I will install just to give the Jeep one more "upgraded" feature.

I still need to pick up some new gauges and a cheap radio to put in it.

I got the harness removed so I could clean it up.

I must not have a very good before picture of the harness out, but here it is after I removed all the useless crap from it:

These are all the wires that I removed from the harness. Still need to tie it up and loom it.

So I guess I kind of went AWOL. Started work again..

I really haven't done much to the Jeep but I did work on the rest of the wiring. (I eliminated more wiring lol.)

Even with new wiring I was having a lot of issues because of rusty connections. After a half hour of troubleshooting, some sandpaper on some terminals and a lot of electrical spray cleaner.. the lights work.

I cleaned up the seats which have been collecting dust for YEARS.

Painted the floor.

Made a new dash for it:

Replaced the carb, I broke the original...

Upgraded to a GM alternator. My favorite fucking alternator on earth.

Oh and I guess I could post the reason why I never work on my other projects. I have a new toy. (Which i'm not sure i've mentioned prior to this..)

Well there's some updates for you. I'm sure i'll finish it within the next ten years. :thumbs up
