No name for it yet lol.

Right now the only plans are to restore it and re-wire it. Most of the major body work is done. I think i'm going to sell it when it's all done actually. No name for it, you can call it whatever you like though lol. "Flubbergaster."

Well, I spent the past two days cleaning the shop- so I figured it was time to get back to work on the Jeep!

A picture of the Jeep and the pile of parts in and around it. (Before I cleaned the shop.)


I'll just throw out a bunch of pictures now.

Another gap I had to fix.. fairly easy fix though.


Trying to hold the rear end in position.. a couple welds holding the tail gate in place..


Body lines are great. I need to weld in braces to keep it like this with the jack and ratchet strap removed.



That's all the progress for tonight. I'm going to go out tonight so I will get back to it tomorrow. Hopefully by tomorrow I will have everything all welded up and get the body work completely done. I will most likely post up another update tomorrow some point. :thumbs up

And if I ever find the previous owner i'm going to kick him in the nuts. Repeatedly.

Excellent work man. I know it's a pain, but in my eyes, there's nothing more beautiful than a jeep in pristine condition. Keep it up!

Looks good kris. Heck of a project youve got going on. I would have taken a bat to the truck if I ever saw that much bondo.

Yes, yes it is a pain, haha. Hopefully it looks great in the end. I think the engine bay looks awesome- so hopefully the rest turns out that good.

Thanks Jason. To be honest I did smack it a few times. It made more bondo fall off, lol. I figure I will use some.. but after I hammer the metal out as close as I can.. and it will only be a light skin coat of filler.. not 1/4" of solid filler filling dents. -_-

I've been cutting out and welding up a lot of rust too. The next thing that i'm going to restore is definitely going to be a muscle car. The Jeep is cool to be all cleaned up, but it definitely doesn't have the same "Wow" factor. I'm going to loathe wiring this. The wiring looks almost as bad as the body! >_<

Very nice build, that was a hell of alot of filler. That was thicker than a set of cylinder walls, LOL.

Oh jeez, I hope there's not any bondo in the motor. O_O

Edit:
Although it probably wouldn't surprise me if there was. "Cracked a cylinder? Ah bondo will fix that right up."

More work on the Jeep today. The rear end is finally straight. About half way done bracing it to make sure it stays straight without the ratchet strap/floor jack. I built a few braces, I will post up pictures later of the fab work on the braces/ welded up and such. I still need to replace a little bit of sheet metal in the back.

Good thing I have that Integra. The hood is the perfect thickness to replace these body pieces. I've been cutting out parts of it to use as patch panels lol.

It's a '77 lol. You should see the high tech clutch linkage. The pedal is almost directly attached to the clutch, lol. Besides making the braces no work has been done today. The shop has some other stuff in it today so i'm just chilling out til they get out of my way.

No updates. I ran out of wire in the welder so the rest of the welding has to wait!
Tomorrow I will hopefully finish it up.

A little more progress today.

Braced that area so it's actually solid. I will be doing a little bit more to it too.

Flat metal, plus heat, plus hammer = angled metal.



All the factory pieces are rusted apart, so I welded them together. It SUCKS to weld on this thing because the whole underbody has bed liner crap all over it. Basically you have to grind off all the bed liner, which gums up the wheel, then you have to try to weld through the madness. Baaaah! It sucks.

On a possitive note my new welding tips + wire are working great. I bought new glass for my welding helmet so it's amazing. Before you couldn't see through it unless you were looking at a light bulb. Now it's like sun glasses that flash dark lol. I hope to have the Jeep completely welded up and filler applied by the end of the night, then I can sand it tomorrow and get the rest of the outside done.

So I finished all the welding on the Jeep tonight.

Hammered out the dents and used a little filler to smooth out the ugly spots.

Replacing the missing corner of metal. Clamped in the replacement piece.


Welded in.


Cleaned up.


Filler around the edges....


For the first time in three or four years, it's sitting straight in one piece, with NO rust!



Tomorrow if I get time I will sand all the filler and finish sanding some paint off so I can get the new stuff on. :thumbs up
Getting so close! ! !
