guy_from_nerks 4dr build thread...the quest for 10's

Kiakid

Idk what to put here...
Lol its just a car fellas, I dont know if I am going to race or not. There are a few cons, 1. I'm over 100 miles away from home and don't wanna break something. 2. Car isn't caged and first time it goes faster then 11.49 they are gonna tell me to either slow it down or shut it off. We'll see though, I have an extra set of axles that i could take with me down there, its just a really tight time frame between having it tuned and IFO (8 days to be exact). I will def be there regardless though
See the thing is when you get guys like us, your car IS our porn lol

Oh my gawd I love your car. That thing sounds so sexy and the baby on board sticker adds a nice touch :)

Me either, however..yes there is always that dreaded however haha. I won't be tuning the car this weekend like I had previously planned :( My tuner's gf had a major health issue pop up last night, they thought she was ok, it came back so she got admitted into the hospital. Add to that, my headgasket is leaking :FU Cometic! So needless to say I will be tearing the head back off at some point this weekened/upcomming week and praying that copper spray fixes the issue. If not then I will tear it back apart yet again and replace it with a golden eagle hg. I can honestly say that not copper spraying the gasket was something I over looked and it came back to bite me in the ass. So lesson learned here is don't over look a single thing and when you think your 100% good to go, recheck everything yet again lol

If it makes you feel any better my head gasket has been replaced like three times. Always yanking the head for one reason or another lol. I always buy new too, don't want to worry about a head gasket going later down the road. ARP head studs, with some copper spray and it's golden. :)

I haven't actually read your build yet.. but i'm very tempted to. Just the name of it sounds good lol.

what does copper spray do? i hadnt even heard about that before
copper spray covers the gasket and as it heats up it forms to any gaps on head or block sealing any leaks.my buddy says he lives buy the stuff and uses it on every car. im in the same boat right now with a leaky cometic head gasket. copper spraing it this weekend to see if it seals off my leak

Kris, give it a read and lmk what ya think :)

Mike, let me know how the copper spray and reused headgasket work out. If I can get away with just doing that then i'll give it a swirl, if not then the car is gonna sit for a while so I can come up with cash to buy a new gasket.

i use it on almost every gasket, but never on a used head gasket, i wouldn't do it seems sketchy, especially with all the money you invested, its ok for a single slam but not for something built IMO

Holy Hell Josh, damn good build thread. Now the quote worthy stuff lol.

Make sure your flywheel bolts are tight...last night I was driving the car around putting miles on it when the wierdest sound came out of nowhere.
Same thing happened to me. -_-

So maybe October was too early to play an April fools joke lol..
Funny when I read that I was like "Oh this must have been around April fools... wait.. what?"

1/10/11: Whew whoo!!!! My turbo arrived today while I was at work. My son really approves of it as you can see in the pic
That's Tyson's turbo now lol.

3/18/11: Hit up Matt out at SpeedFactoryRacing and ordered a Precision 46mm wastegate. One less thing to buy!!
Locccaaaal. :D

Anyways, the build looks damn good. It was just today I was talking to my Dad about spending money on a Honda. He mentioned some lady putting like 50 grand into her sons Honda and my thought was "How the f*** do you spend fifty grand on a Honda?" but then I got to thinking.. it would take me about ten seconds to spend ten grand, and then if I didn't do all the work myself thats another forty grand. Haha.

Your build looks pretty damn expensive man. It makes my car look even s***tier lol. About the only decent things on my car are the interior, engine and transmission. Everything else is ugly.

Anyways, congratulations on the prodigy. (The son, not the car.) The car looks good. Did you ever get your refund for that downpipe/mani? I read your other thread about it being shipped and a refund being promised, but you never mentioned that you received it.

Thanks man, yeah I finally got the refund 4 months later! My bank took care of that for me lol. I have damn near 20k in reciepts and the only thing that hasn't been done in house (my garage) is the machining and assembly of the bottom end. Doing it your self definitley saves money!! A lot of local people don't believe I have that much in the car, yet they seem to never realize that there is 1k bucks alone just in AN fittings and Hose. That shit is not cheap at all, then figure in suspension, all the turbo stuff (I will have to go through my reciepts but I would guess 3500 alone there), shit adds up really damn fast. Hell I think I spent a few hundred at my local honda dealership just on bolts. I'll go through reciepts today since I have nothing else to do and ill see what I come up with.
