Those are stock pistons..I dont remember the exact CR...but I think its like 9:1.1 or some shit

And Ive heard people go 40 over. But They do sell kits for 80 over

ok here the into on the 2.4. , it also rates it for 150 hp and 167tq. Neon people dont put these in there b/c of thr hp..these engines make the little neon move bc if the tq and the neon is a light car.

2,429 cc 2.4 liters 4 in-line front transverse engine with 87.5 mm bore, 101 mm stroke, 9.4 compression ratio, cast iron block, light alloy head, double overhead cam, automatic valve adjustment and four valves per cylinder

40 over as in .040 over cause that's about a mm. But if your talking .40 over that's hardcore, that's like 10mm and a lot of displacement. I'm guessing you were talking about the latter. So .080 over would be about 2mm. I would have thought you could go more being that it's a solid iron block.

Those pistons are pretty sweet to be stock.

Edit: Now that I looked at it again you don't have a lot of room between the cylinders. About the same as most 4cyls.

Actaully..I did some research on neons.org bout my pistons. I made a thread basically askin WTF I had. Looks like my pistons are 2.4L NA Pt Crusier pistons. Now..I did some research on the CR of the PT crusier, Ive got 2 anwers but they are so close it wont matter.. one is 9.4:1 the other is 9.5:1. I removed number 3 piston for pics side but side with my old one..and I damaged a bearing. Oops

Well..hopefully, napa has some rod bearings, if so, Ill be puttin the bottom end back together and possibly the head.

Id work on it more, but I work 3-11 and its hard to get involved with it. Plus theyve been puttin us on some fucked up schedules

Well...Bottom end is together, head is bolted down, Tourqued...My oiling system put me at a stand still. W/o it, I cant get the pan on, the timing done..nothing.

I had ordered new pistons. When they came in, I thought they were srt-4 pistons. I didnt pay attention to the floating pin, which would have been a dead giveaway for them bein n/a 2.4

they are instead pt crusier pistons, the ski slope on them is much higher than the original pistons in the 97 block. Ive heard they redesigned them for better combustion.

so does that mean higer compression? or just a higher rate piston?
