Just remember cam gears are only make a difference if you tune them.

Intake

Exhaust
Hi Flow Cat
Cams
okay thanks man, i'd definately would consider Hi flow cat, but Alaska has stupid emissions laws, so i need the stock cat converter to pass IM....err i mean Emissions, lol. IM=Intake manifold here on CI..just found that out haha.

so you say aftermarket cam gears only make a difference only when tune? if thats the case would i be better off leaving the stock cam gears alone with just the aftermarket camshafts?

The most important thing you'll need are high compression pistons. You'll most likely also need larger injectors, and you will need a tuning system of some sort. And you'll need to upgrade your valvesprings. Exactly what you need of all these parts depends on how big you go with the cams.
i appreciate the tidbit tegsox, but i'm looking to stay streetable with pump gas that wont affect my emissions inspection. so what cam sticks would you prefer if lets say you were in my shoes or situation?

I say save up put together a nice turbo kit...tune it and call it a day....it can remain streetable and make you happier than any basic bolt ons would....and if you think about it your basic I/H/E is gonna run you about 500 or so shorter than it would to piece together a decent kit.
that FI will be somewhere along in the future ahead. but for now, i only have a budget of 600 dollars, i dont want anything super crazy like a turbo yet. not now at least, i would like to experience the natural side of life first , lol

btw how would someone go about peicing a turbo kit? is there instructions online somewhere of what peices to get and parts? i'm clueless on that. i hear alot of people peicing together their turbo kit, but i dont know what parts are needed to peice together one.

^^ Agree. I'm putting a kit together right now for under 700 on my civic.

My goal is a grand including tuning, and I use this baby to commute 100 miles a day.

Kuchtaboy, do you know where i can get instructions of what parts to get to piece a turbo kit? i'm curious, thanks

you first need to set goals, will you be happy with just cheap boltons or would you want nice boltons, there is a huge difference in price and power made.

i am assuming that you don't want to tap the bottom end so mild cams are about the best you can do. you will need the valvetrain and chipped ecu and tune to support it tho

studded tires are awesome

whats stupid is california chain control people are idiots and will sometimes require you to put on chains anyways if you have a 2wd car

i'll definately take this into consideration

Its true theres a difference between cheap and quality bolt-ons, but either way I doubt youd be happy with the power even the best bolt-ons in the world will give you. N/A isnt going to get you much power if you want it to remain streetable honestly. I think a mild turbo setup would be better. Cheaper and can still be reliable if done properly. Plus with your weather itd be even better with FI.

hmm, if lets say i go for skunk 2,or blox, crower, crane etc cams intake and exhaust sides, what do i need to do to the stock ecu? aftermarket piggy, chipped, standalone etc etc. pardon me for my noobness.

if i do go the cams route, is cam sprockets really necessary? or can i just leave my stock cam sprockets alone? thanks for the tips. greatly appreciated.
if you are going to get any cams "because your teg is a daily driver" then you probably, most likely want to get Skunk 2 stage 1 cams.

i'll have to disagree a very streetable 200-210whp build will get you to mid 13 sec in the 1/4 and i consider that damn fast for a 1.8

Yes it can, but whats that beating? The way I see it having a 1.8L is no excuse for going slow. A mid 13 second time slip is only running with STOCK SRT-4s, EVOs, STIs, V8s, etc. It might beat stock 350Zs, S2000s, and whatever, but those arent that fast anyways. Putting forth thousands of dollars just to be beating stock cars is not all that great of an achievement IMO. A 300whp setup on a gsr can be done safely on the stock block and thats possible mid 12s on STREET tires not to mention it will pull pretty hard up top too.

A 200-210whp setup in an integra will be pretty quick and loads of fun, but when it comes to speed it really isnt all that competitive. Hed be beating other hondas and what else? Modded turbo cars and V8s easily get into the 12 second range. It is impressive for a n/a 1.8L I will admit, but that doesnt change the fact that its still not all that fast.

competitive is relative, straight line speed? maybe not, but any kind of real racing it will be a pretty decent competitor
