downshifting causes more stresssssss nucker! that's the reason why you have brakes. i'd rather change brakes than the clutch.
thats true but this is a track thread question , so if im assuming if hes talking about track i would downshift and brake going into a corner then punch it goung out, and if u got skillz ...heal toe in between

Run ur car NOT ur mouth!
in gear, outta gear..what the diff? if ur in a hurry or racing..leave it in gear. if ur jus cruising, put it in neuttral, dont need the power right? save some gas!

i use my tranny to help me stop... so yes.. i down shift... 40?.. 3rd i think?.. idk?.. i go by feel.. i also like to do the heel-toe technique.. cuhz its better for your car.. and feels so much smoother...

Same... I go with the down shift, usually feels like you have alot more control.

You should always keep your car in gear when driving, because...if for some reason you need to react quickly to get out of a situation, aka, accident, your car will be in gear already and thats less time you will need to waste when reacting. As for the track, you will always want your car in the best sutied gear. I will say you should always be in gear, cornering or whenever, also when decelerating. When you drive an automatic there is always engine braking occuring when not on the gas, this should always be the case with a manual also, i'm not saying that people don't over do it but you should always have your car in gear when declerating, this will not hurt your engine, it will not use gas up anymore because your not on the throttle giving it anymore gas than when its idiling, you will also prevent premature brake wear. And this is not going to wear your clutch that much faster if, once again, you don't over do it, there is no need to downshift to 5000 rpms but keeping your car at say around 3k while stopping will help prevent alot of premature wear on your braking system and is also alot safer.

AHAHAHAHA, How did this happen? This thread was about TRACTION differences in neutral and in gear going in a corner. Not braking.

many of my friends told me that it's not good for traction if you corner with a neutral gear

although i never go into a corner with a neutral gear (that's how i learned to drive), i would also like to know the principle behind this

can someone please explain?
Really in the end being in or out of gear wont effect traction. Staying in gear in a corner is faster, but not benifitial to traction. there end of thread

HAHAHA I thought it was pretty funny to when I was replying. The braking and downshifting thing will always be never a ending argument between people, to eaches own I guess.
