I only use engine braking on the track because you can be faster and smoother that way and also allows you to use left foot braking and the throttle to aid in weight transfer to tighten your line and power through the apex. Otherwise, there really is no point in increasing wear on hard to replace parts during regular driving. Brakes were meant to stop you and are easy to replace. Clutch is a little more of a pain in the ass lol. Really high rpm engine braking is also very hard on valvetrain parts
