900HP Evo... WTH... way cool except for all that blue smoke when shifting.

I have absolutely no need to boost a car that hard tho. cool to see how far it can be taken tho :):):)

Get the Evo IX if you can. Its reliable, easy to maintain, can handle way more hp stock then any STi. The only thing the STi has over the Evo is its exhaust note.
I used to own an 04 WRX. It was a nightmare. Had so many issues with it. Never buying a Subaru again.

I hear alot of talk about the boxer being unreliable and hard to work on in the STI. LOL, its not, not at all. I should know.

Ive spent ALOT, and I mean ALOT of time under, over, in and out of both of these cars. I still have local shops call me to ask questions. They are both spectacular, however... When it came time to put my own money on the line I made a choice. Being so familiar with both cars my choice was instant.

The choice is this.... If you want secondary track car, get the EVO. If you want a car to drive daily and around town/back roads get the STI. I can get into the details for HOURS! But who wants to read all of that. The question is easy. Follow what I said above and you will be happy.

I would get the EVO 8 or 9 its less money to fix and mod, has a lot of room in engine bay . If you wanna worry about cooling problems and hear your engine knock b/c of oil it burned, and have the famous bad stock tune they gave them, and have no space to work, and the famous 2nd gear problem they all have, and pay a s*** load of money to maintane, and mod then get your self a sti. LoL my friend has a EVO9 mr, and only problems be had was clutch and bov leak. Just my :twocents:
This is very miss informed and almost entirely false. I could go through and systematically rip this post to shreds but I dont feel like wasting the time.

There is one bad generation for the STI, and that is the 08-09 (first years of a total redesign). But if you like the look of the 08-09 then in my mind you deserve the issues they come with. The new chassis is still trying to earn its keep. The GD 02-07 is the ONLY stateside WRX/STI you need to consider. Its that or jump to the 2012-13 sedan for a multitude of reasons.

I went and sat in both last weekend... I agree the STI was much more comfortable to sit in for cruising around... The Exo X MR I sat in felt really cramped, but... was set perfectly in proportion to how you would want to be seated in a track car.

looking at the motors on both I was confused looking down at the STI motor, whereas after popping off the silly plastic MIVEC cover on the X the motor looked pretty much like a backwards B series ith a composite VC.

Both seem to hold value quite well, but as for my initial drive to get one or the other... that has been stimied by a recent drop in my credit score for now. Looks like I have a couple collections out there I need to address before I can realistically finance either car without paying a high interest rate on it combined with the Credit inquiries I sustained as a part of moving to a new APT & having to set up new Cable service, etc, etc, etc...

My research has led me to find that the evo is way better in handling whatever road conditions you toss at it & with the X is only better than ever in that aspect... Even the block is a glutton for punishment in the latest model. The IX is a proven beast but lacks some of the handling finesse that the X boasts with the addition the active yaw controls.

Where the STI wins hands down is confort, interior quality & out the door HP. you still have highly configurable handling, and in real world driving would probably never make use of half the configurations both vehicles provide for daily driving making them a moot point unless you are tracking the car. Also the Subbie pricing is hands down hard to beat in contrast to the Evo.

That all said I am stuck stuck stuck... I guess once I get my financial house back in order it will come down to what is available out there for the right price I think..

1 point for the Evo... it is not as mass produced as the STI is... that gives it a little more appeal to me personally. I have aways been a fan of limited production cars myself.
