I went and sat in both last weekend... I agree the STI was much more comfortable to sit in for cruising around... The Exo X MR I sat in felt really cramped, but... was set perfectly in proportion to how you would want to be seated in a track car.
looking at the motors on both I was confused looking down at the STI motor, whereas after popping off the silly plastic MIVEC cover on the X the motor looked pretty much like a backwards B series ith a composite VC.
Both seem to hold value quite well, but as for my initial drive to get one or the other... that has been stimied by a recent drop in my credit score for now. Looks like I have a couple collections out there I need to address before I can realistically finance either car without paying a high interest rate on it combined with the Credit inquiries I sustained as a part of moving to a new APT & having to set up new Cable service, etc, etc, etc...
My research has led me to find that the evo is way better in handling whatever road conditions you toss at it & with the X is only better than ever in that aspect... Even the block is a glutton for punishment in the latest model. The IX is a proven beast but lacks some of the handling finesse that the X boasts with the addition the active yaw controls.
Where the STI wins hands down is confort, interior quality & out the door HP. you still have highly configurable handling, and in real world driving would probably never make use of half the configurations both vehicles provide for daily driving making them a moot point unless you are tracking the car. Also the Subbie pricing is hands down hard to beat in contrast to the Evo.
That all said I am stuck stuck stuck... I guess once I get my financial house back in order it will come down to what is available out there for the right price I think..
1 point for the Evo... it is not as mass produced as the STI is... that gives it a little more appeal to me personally. I have aways been a fan of limited production cars myself.
