I have pulled out my transmission to fix various things. You do basic maintenance that anyone does to their car. Saying you maintain your car is stretching it a bit. If I lost a gear I would throw in another gear box ASAP. Look at Patrick. His box died, sourced one immediately. I don't see why you are being defensive when I told you the truth.
I'm not even being defensive.. The money factor and time was an issue for me for trying to get the transmission fixed before Laguna Seca. Though LS was a cheap track day, it'd be a once in a great while thing for me, since I may move away from this damned place.
Why pull out my transmission 3-5 weeks before a track day when I have no idea what I'm doing? I'd do more harm rushing a job like that than I would be limping at the track.
It's pretty obvious our maintenance jobs are set upon different tiers, with yours being higher than mine, woo?
Also Patrick only has his Integra, I'm about to have a 4th vehicle, plus an additional 3 more in case I get SOL somehow, some way.. 4 if you count my dad's bike. Therefore I lose the need to make fixing a problem with my car a priority, as I'm already busy with other things right now. Therefore, in Patrick's shoes, yes, I'd get on that shit ASAP.
