It's going the other way around here, Texas is raising speed limits. Most everything outside the cities is 75 now. West Texas is soon to go from 80, to 85.
But the OP is right about used oil analysis. There is no reason no to do it. People will change their oil at 3,000 miles because they are "concerned about their engine." But then aren't concerned enough to take in some facts and actually see what is going on inside. The oil can tell you a lot about what is going on inside your engine as well as to nail down an actual relevant interval.

Seriously though you won't get support this year either. I'm glad that you are trying to better the earth, but there are plenty of other ways to do it (such as recycling, using water in moderation, turning the lights off when you leave a room). However, on an integra forum your not going to get people want to get 29 miles to the gallon rather than 28. We love our cars and are willing to pay that extra couple dollars to do what we enjoy.OLDSKOOLACURA

That is a great point. People seem to "know" everything about their cars on here but aren't willing to get some fact based information. You can't tell how good your engine oil is based on its smell or its darkness. I hope some of you actually read the link instead of making assumptions and just responding to complain about me "saving the world!" I obviously cant do that...
I could write tons of stuff about these other issues but those are not related to this forum nor this thread which is why they are not discussed here. Not everyone on this forum is looking to burn gas going straight on the freeway. I don't know why you guys talk as if you hit VTEC the entire time you drive. Simple. Much of our oil comes from over seas from places like OPEC. The greater the demand for fuel, the greater the chances are that more of our oil is coming from places like OPEC that have been linked to funding terrorists activities.

So if we drive slower, we use less oil/gas, meaning less of it comes from overseas that may be funding terrorists networks. The faster we drive, the greater the demand, the more money we need to send overseas to import oil, more likely that some of that money is funding terror organizations. Does that make a little more sense?

Omg, If we drive fast, we fund terrorism.... Ok fine, whatever you say. But if we drive slow we create more pissed off commuters and road rage ensues. I'd rather pay a little bit more for gas than get ripped out of my car by some raged out f***er stuck behind my slow ass.

That logic would be pointless either way Jackal. If it happens to be that we slow down our normal driving speed to avoid wasting gas, from an economic standpoint, gas stations will be forced to hike their gas prices when we do need it which will balance everything back out or make things even worse for us as the consumer. People will think "fighting terrorism by driving slow and saving gas." Then in reality they arrive at the pump and are paying $0.10 to $0.20 more than they were previously.
It's like that time a few years ago when people were spreading the word on Facebook: "hey guys don't pump gas at all on this specific day, tell your friends to tell their friends too. Let's show the oil companies we will not stand for such expensive gas prices."
The very next day gas stations are lined up with a s***load of cars and trucks. And, not surprisingly the price of gas is $0.10 higher than before people stopped pumping. All the while, company CEO's at BP, Texaco, and other gas companies are thinking, "Wow. These bunch of idiots... thanks for falling for that, and putting more money in our pockets."

94RS, if your going to drive slow, go in the slow lane... lol. I never have people on my ass and I drive 60mph on the freeway IN THE SLOW LANE. If you don't want to change, that's your deal, but dont think for once second that you speak for everyone because you clearly dont. Usually the people with "Road Rage" are those who feel the need to drive in the fast lane and speed where I later find them at the stop light or on the side of the road getting a $400 speeding ticket.
Xjo im not really sure about your reasoning here. Im not talking about driving slower for one day, im talking about a complete shift in driving habits. I also thought the "dont buy gas on "x" day was a stupid idea as well. If supply goes up, prices go down and the price that gas stations buy the fuel at goes down too, Econ 101. That why with crude oil under $80/barrel now, you'll see, as we have all seen during the last few weeks, the price of gasoline going down.
