what's the safest way to prevent your car being stolen?

I guess wasn't a good idea then
Nope... I pointed that out to him. But I used to do the same thing depending on where I was because I didn't want to carry around a steering wheel, Alot of people tend to stare when you're walking through the mall with a steering wheel in hand.

Theft is not a matter of IF, It's a matter of when for modified 90s Hondas... I got tired of worrying about my car getting stolen every time I went out so I sold it, And it ended up getting stolen a week later. I don't have to worry about that with the E34, There isn't much of a black market for it. The E34 will not unlock at all when the factory alarm is armed (not with the key or even from inside the car), There is a password code system where everytime i leave the car I can set up a password to start the car (4 digit password [won't start at all unless code is put in]), There's a chip in the key and for added measure I installed Llumar protection film on the windows (tinted). Less worries now :)

Keep the interior of the car messy. Bags of potato chips on the floor, pieces of lettuce and tomato that are dried up over shifter, empty cups everywhere, cig butts in ashtray, drop a few m&ms between the seats and on the floormats so they melt and get chocolate on the mat, taco bell wrappers in the car for at least a week so you get a certain smell in the interior. When the thief sits in the car about to crack the ignition, the taco bell smell will make him/her say what the hell, then your car will be safe.

It took 2 days to find it, The DB was always garaged... Just taken to the mall one day (in pleasanton [low crime rate]) where it was stolen.

I knew it was just a matter of time as it had been attempted before.
They took the time to replace your seat with that shitty old seat in there in that amount of time? WTF? You'd think they'd just strip and leave. lol

And Pleasanton is just like 15 miles from Oakland and in the middle of some pretty densely populated urban area. That would never be considered out of harms way afaic. Best of luck having anything deemed desireable in such an environment.

So far, I've had a deck stoled out in front of my house. Left the car unlocked, so it was my bad, but still, pissed me off. But then, after about a week without tunes, I decided to put in a $40 walmart special in there just to have something to listen to. Had it in there a week, went to the movies and some motherfucker jimmied my shit and took that to. lol Pretty defeated feeling at that point, but as you remind me here, it could have been alot worse. lol
