whats happened?

Just call me chris.
Is it just me or does it seem like CI has lost alot of members. It just seems like there is so much negativity on here as of late. Yeah we've had some bad eggs roll through here and they deserved to have their asses set on fire but the unnecessary put downs and shitting on of people cars and questions is just fucking ridiculous. at the youngest integras are 8 years old. old enough for all the information out there to be readily available. but what is the purpose of a forum? its to help people and to network with others who share a passion for similar things. i know when i first joined i had never owned an import of any kind and how no damn clue what to even search for when i needed help. so please- especially the senior members- can we try and remedy this? because if we keep shitting on people looking for help this forum will turn into a damn ghost town. And in my opinion this problem is much more severe than how damn big someones signature is.../rant

Honestly I believe the biggest issue is people joining and just slapping their negative or unwanted comments.....this also goes with the same question asked 4 times a day, like you said AcurInteg96 we weren't born with this knowledge that we know now, but at least we tried to search and learn about what to do that we wanted. Along with this the same question that gets asked is "WHAT SHOULD I DO TO MY CAR" every-time I see this question I'm just like WHY THE FUCK DID YOU BUY THE CAR IF YOU HAD NO IDEA WHAT YOU WANTED TO DO! Idk that's just my opinion though probably doesn't matter to many on here.

i didnt know what i wanted to do with my car when i bought it. its nice getting ideas from others. but getting shit on for having non popular ideas isnt constructive.

I agree. I haven't been here for long, but chris is right. If someone has a plan for their car that the majority of people on here don't like, all they do is get criticized for it. For example, bodykits. Yeah, most people don't like them and define them as "rice" but, others are into that. For show cars, or just for their satisfaction. If they do it right, and it looks good, regardless of it being a bodykit, why bash them for it? How is that really any different than if someone got new stock bumpers? It's all about opinion.. and that's not something people should be put down for. Granted, when they ask what you think about it, you're going to tell them how you feel, but there's no need to be an ass about it. And for people who don't know a lot about cars, that's why they join these forum sites, to gain the knowledge they're ignorant of. They're trying, and we should give them credit for that, not bitch at them for asking a question that yeah probably has been asked 90435847 times. If you know the answer, that's as easy to type as "search before you ask blah blah blah". Every single one of you was in the spot that most of the people on here are at, not knowing what they want to do with their car, not knowing where to start, maybe not even knowing much about cars. Instead of yelling, just support them and joke around with them, be nice, make them feel welcome, or like Chris said, they won't want to come back. Some of them deserve what they get, yeah. Attitudes are a no-no and drama isn't wanted here, so why instigate it by being jerks?

Well put, Alyssa! I know it can be frustrating with the less knowledgeable members, but try to look at it like a compliment. They are asking you for your advice and opinion (Again, if it is negative you should keep it to yourself), and try to see it as flattery and just continue to be helpful. Also, try put yourselves in their shoes. I know I am usually calm on the surface when my car is fucked up, but I am uber pissed in my head lol.

yeah i agree with all of you guys above, ci has over 51,000 members and we maybe only have 70 active users which is ridiculous.

i always just answer the question, when i was a noob to this site, people that told me to search just made me migrate to another forum most of the time.

if i know the answer to a question, i'll give it. it's a hell of alot easier than to search through 100s of answers and no one likes to hear negative replies no matter how they feel about something, i hope were all older than 10.

BBHG.. one love.
when i was a noob i got that crap and migrated to TI for information and came back to CI just for conversation and looking at other people's cars. i dont want that to happen to everyone, i feel like we're starting to turn it around a bit and im glad. i enjoy helping people with whatever i can help them with and i will never tell someone to simply search if i clearly know the answer.

i think the biggest problem with us "helping every one" is the stupid questions we get, like "wheres my battery" or my favorite " how can i make my auto fast?" im glad to share my knowledge but really? some times it just gets ridiculous.

i know im guilty of telling n00bs to search... but lately i have been doing my best to answer their questions as best i can or atleast tell them what to search for when i dont know the exact answer. but it does get really old to see the same questions 5 times a week. i think we need to sticky more threads with basic information thats been posted 100 times anyway. i mean... it would be a long slow process but i think if we did that it would be more readily available and we wouldnt have to tell so many people to search, or answer the same "how do i make my ls have vtech?" thread...

im guilty of being a dick at times. But like jim said we arent 10. its a new decade and i think we all should just put the past behind us. I feel like since ive joined we have always strived to be better than TI and now we are not better than them.

I'm probably one of the biggest assholes here on CI, but I think that those of us who car the bigger assholes have pulled back on it as of late(myself included).
I realize that the point of this forum is to share the knowledge we have of these cars, but I think that new members have the responsibility to attempt to find answers to their questions before asking seasoned members to lead them by the hand. I also think that new members should be able to type using punctuation, capitalization, and somehting resembling grammar and the English language. If you want an answer, don't type a cipher for all to decode.
Another thing is that people need to not be so damn sensitive when someone disagrees with them or doesn't answer their question as if they were answering a child in kindergarden. If you let someone's asshole comment on the internert get to you, you need to re-evaluate your priorities in life.
Just my thoughts, then again I am one of the biggest assholes here on CI. :D
