Yeah, theres a vin on the firewall that matches the cars vin tags on dash and door...thats not gonna tell you if or if not you have a stolen motor in the car though.

ill have to do some more checking. the car came from over 500 miles away and ive never been stopped and had to pop my hood so i think im safe if it is stolen. i guess theres no real way to check unless the vins somewhat match up. its all good!

and since were on a noobish topic. there is a black box attatcched to the top of my ECU.. has wires coming out and going into the ecu.. mean anything?

If the engine was stolen..youre most likely safe at this point..just someone out there has lost there engine.

a higher res picture of your engine stamp would be helpful, somethings obviously wrong there

i think its a stolen motor and someone just put their block stamp changed. ive seen B18Cs with D17 stamps on them

<<<<I have a motor with NO VINS....and not stolen lol.... I have a JDM GSR stamped B18C.
I have to ride with papers signed by myself and the owner/seller of the swap spot. also the serial # was written down and documented. but a B18r/p is funny. it seems like the B was shaved down or something to be funny....my buddies take the dremel to the block, head, etc just to put names or markings to identify their stuff in case its stolen...lol

That's a pretty good idea.

I have an engraver that I have marked and documented every part on my car with, just for that very reason. When it comes to theft prevention and theft recovery you can never do too much.
