What is the highest safe boost level I can set this turbo to?

technically a turbo kit is bolt on lol but I know what you mean. And I'm scared of crashing with NOS and burning to death.

and I wasn't talking about brand new v8's I mean like old mustangs and camaro's only making less than 300hp. plenty of them around busting my balls when I had my stock 00 celica gts
I'm talking about older v8s too.
You won't be close to 300 with bolt one I hope you know that.
My 350 cutlass eats gsr's all day.

I would boost if I was you, but if you don't upgrade any internals keep it relatively low. Compared to what you were originally thinking.

lol I just read your quote. Good advice. Now I'm thinking of getting a gsr and just doing the cai, header, and exhaust. Should be fast enough to spank most v8's so that's fast enough for a 1.8
Hahahahaha. No fucking way, bud. I wish it was that easy.

Really though, you need to research a lot before going turbo. I'm on my phone, so I wont give you links because that'll take too long. There are a few turbo builds/threads on here with great info and millions of others all on honda-tech, ti, etc.

a 93 camaro with a 350 in it only has 240HP I believe. I used to have one. So I figured with a cai, header, and exhaust a gsr should make around 220 bhp and it weighs 700 lbs less so you do the math. the gsr would have a higher power to weight ratio.

how much should I expect with a i/h/e. I'm talking about bhp I know the wheel horsepower will be much less.

175-185 depending on the current condition of the motor before bolt ons. And no, a turbo is "technically" not a bolt on. There's way more to it than just throwing in the snail in between the block and radiator and closing the hood. I'm 17 and have a much better grasp on what it takes to make it run strong with boost, yet I'm still holding off until I feel completely comfortable doing all the work by myself besides tuning. Hell, I may just take the efi class and tune it myself too. Seriously. Read, read, read. Up until then, I feel as though you keep pedaling the bicycle rather than getting behind the wheel of a car if you're this ill-informed

bicycle lol dude ive had 6 cars in my lifetime and am only car less cause i sold my last one for 6000 and was planning on saving for an S2000 or a VR4 but can't afford it so Im just getting an integra for now to get me to school next semester, only have 6 classes left. As of right now I don't have a job or are going to school I felt like taking a break.

i heard they can handle a lot of boost too but everyones telling me to keep it low or go na if I plan on keeping the engine stock

Think again. Stock GSR c/r is 10:1, and the stock pistons won't be able to hold 20lbs. Gsr motors have higher compression, and turbo setups call for low compression. Unless you plan on driving it for like 10secs, dont go that high. lol
Basically any motor with stock internals will blow up under that boost pressure. Stock internals with the gsr's c/r, I'd say the highest safe pressure to go is 9lbs maybe 10lbs, but thats pushing it.
Then again, i wouldn't boost with stock internals with a higher compression motor. just sayin.
Try agin, I would change my 9:1 pistons out for 10:1 pistons in a heart beat. Quicker spool, same power levels on lower PSI. If you have a s***ty tuner then you should be concerned, if you have someone with half a brain who knows what they are doing you're good to go.

So many variables on "whats safe", do a compression and leak down test to see how healthy your engine is to begin with. Then buy quality parts, quality engine management and find a good tuner. I see no reason 15psi couldn't be done if your motor is healthy.

LOL that won't last a mile. Shouldn't go over 8-9 on stock internals.

Do tell us how many turbo motors you owned?

Stop watching fast and furious and pick up a science book

Oh and a turbo is a bolt on, mine has 4 bols that hold it to the turbo manifold, never understood that whole argument

Jackmldog can you heel toe rev match? I bet you can't or don't even know what it is. I mastered this in my 2000 celica gts 6 speed I think I have a lot more driving experience than you. You're 17 you shouldn't be on the road, most accidents are caused by new drivers. What did you just get your license? I've been driving for over ten years.
