True story, lol...and I can definitely feel it!! Jiggles my eyeballs if I'm havin fun with it. I custom built the box, though. Ridiculously braced 3/4" mdf, but with 1-1/2" front baffle. Enclosure volume tuned to match the speakers...lotsa fun!

To the OP...a lot of newer cars factory stereos (such as your wife's) are sounding better, but partly because I believe they are tuning them to the cars acoustics and ALSO because they seem to significantly boost the upper bass. Sort of cheating, but it sounds "good" to most. This is strictly my opinion...I rent a LOT of cars and this has been my observation.

I have these and they are awesome. I went to car toys just to hear how some of the different speakers actually sound and i decided on these. They were selling them for 200 so I said F that and got them online. I installed them myself and they sound beautiful.

I just actually sold a 2000watt 12" Memphis e3 sub and 1600 watt d class Memphis amp. I would compair that sub to a jl w7 but without the price tag. f'ING amazing bass. I'm not as into the loud music as I was when I was younger due to the fact that I'm going deaf in my left ear. Lol and I need the space in the truck for my tools for work that I constantly have to haul back and forth. The down fall of the Memphis was it needed alot of air space so the box was huge.

Polk DB6501's for front powered by a sound ordinance 500 watt amp. 14awg to speakers and 8awg power/ground. Very good price and very good speakers. Infinity also make top quality speakers.
Though I'm sure it's mainly preference. For the most part any aftermarket non-walmart brand will be better than stock.

Meh.. I have 2-way pioneers all around, very very crisp sounding. Got 2 12' kickers in the back with a kicker 400amp and they KICK MY ASS OMG LOL

same doors except im running 2 12' JL's with a 1000watt SPX amp (SPX amps kinda suck so dont get this if your doing a sub setup im just running it till i save up for a new one)

bring back your amp and sub....just scale it down a bit. I also have to carry tools for work, so I reduced my system down to : 6.5 interior speakers all around (pioneer fronts, mb quart components rear) Xtant m202 bridged to mono powering my single kicker L5 10" ported running @ 2ohms stable all day. My ears ring and the system turns heads...
Now my boys run much bigger systems in their tegs and can be heard for many blocks clearly.....but why.

pics? with 1k rms in mine it was pretty loud, but not loud enough. soundlike urs prob slams as well

why not? im on the big system path myself, other wise id make it faster but for now mine will slow and FCKN LOUD

Man I keep thinking about it. I regret selling it but it was just too much to have in that car. I'd really like get another L5 as I had a few years ago in my truck.
