i have a 12 im goingto put in my trunk its an alpine type e imma put it with a 2or300 watt amp from alpine but to save weight imma put it in a truck seat box that way its slim and it will still give me good music quality

Not having the correctly tuned box (i.e. a 10w3v3 requires a 1.5cf box) will result in poor bass. Not trying to say it wont work just saying your not giving your sub what it needs for its full potential. Which to me, is dumb. I would rather get an 8in and have the right size box so it can perform to its full potential.
edit: if you're worried about weight look into fiberglass. though I wouldn't use anything other than mdf
