well i just went outside and tried to start the teggy, but no luck! its been sitting up for about a year now, i turn the key, and i hear the beeping, press the clutch pedal in, and the engine is trying to start, but its not catching and running. its just like "ch-chug ch-chug" over and over. the car needs a new clutch and linkage from what i was told when i bought it, but i didnt think that would matter in it starting and just idling. does anybody here have an idea of what could be wrong?

before i stopped working on it, i had cleaned the motor with some engine brite and hosed it down, a teeny amount of water was hiding in the far right plug boot, and got into the plug well, i didnt see this before i had pulled the plug out when i was changing spark plugs (right before i stopped working on it) (yes, i had let the engine dry over night before i changed plugs) the other boots were fine, but like i said, a small amount of water sneaked into the last far right plug well, (closest to the drivers side) i have googled the problem and some sites said it could be the coil that just needs to be changed, and maybe a new set of plug wires, some say the fuel pump could be bad and need to be changed.. thats another thing, it sat up with little, or no fuel in it.. i had put some in there before i covered it up and let it sit (been working non stop since, havent had a chance to work on it), so earlier before i added gas to it, i put about half an ounce of sta-bil in it, since i only had a gallon of fuel for it, (more than enough to start it).. any suggestions? thank you in advance for any and all information and help!

Have you checked the battery? Sometimes if cars sit for a long time and the batt is not disconnected wit will go bad

same thing happened when i bought my old teggy,
drain your tank, theres a bolt on the back driverside corner, change your fuel filter, autozone has them for about 10 bucks. do your best to completely drain the old fuel out the lines, and put in fresh fuel. you will want to add a fuel system cleaner to the gas as well to clean your injectors and everything else thats been junked up.
change your oil, take off valve cover and put oil directly on the camshafts (camshafts are the first thing that dries out when an engine sits for extended periods of time and yours has)
turn the key to run let the fuel pump prime, turn it off for 5 seconds, turn the key to run and do this about 5 times times and try to start it, this will force fresh fuel into your system. if it still doesnt start then try it a few more times. if it still doesnt start pull the new filter off and check for fuel flow. also would be a good idea to clean your air filter if you have one that can be cleaned or replace it.

you will also want to change plugs and wires and do all the other maintenance that wasnt performed as your teggy sat, drain your radiator, put in fresh coolant, check your fuses. theres a lot that can go wrong when a car sits for that long. but with the things ive said to do your teggy should start and run just fine

i see it as, as long as you tossed a few ideas out there, you helped in a big way. i did think for a minute that the battery had become bad or something, because i could not get the key to even turn in the ignition. but i got it to lol thought maybe the battery had something to do with that... but then i heard the beeping sound so i knew battery was good

yeah, about changing the dash color, (specifically the gauges i.e. speedo, tach, gas and temp), i have it sitting here in my room with me, and i took some of the bulbs out earlier to see that they have some kind of blue rubber stuff covering the bigger bulbs (the ones that light up the speedo, tach, fuel and temp). i found this website thanks to a post on the forums about LEDs for the gauges, but there are so many LEDs for those lights, i have no idea on which ones to pick.
