The Rook
well i just went outside and tried to start the teggy, but no luck! its been sitting up for about a year now, i turn the key, and i hear the beeping, press the clutch pedal in, and the engine is trying to start, but its not catching and running. its just like "ch-chug ch-chug" over and over. the car needs a new clutch and linkage from what i was told when i bought it, but i didnt think that would matter in it starting and just idling. does anybody here have an idea of what could be wrong?
before i stopped working on it, i had cleaned the motor with some engine brite and hosed it down, a teeny amount of water was hiding in the far right plug boot, and got into the plug well, i didnt see this before i had pulled the plug out when i was changing spark plugs (right before i stopped working on it) (yes, i had let the engine dry over night before i changed plugs) the other boots were fine, but like i said, a small amount of water sneaked into the last far right plug well, (closest to the drivers side) i have googled the problem and some sites said it could be the coil that just needs to be changed, and maybe a new set of plug wires, some say the fuel pump could be bad and need to be changed.. thats another thing, it sat up with little, or no fuel in it.. i had put some in there before i covered it up and let it sit (been working non stop since, havent had a chance to work on it), so earlier before i added gas to it, i put about half an ounce of sta-bil in it, since i only had a gallon of fuel for it, (more than enough to start it).. any suggestions? thank you in advance for any and all information and help!
