I'd skip the fuel cleaner if I were you. It's all a big fat bottle of placebo, if you ask me.

As JDMJim suggested, you should check to see if you have spark and fuel. You will find out if you have fuel when you change the filter and try to prime the system.

I think you should pick up a set of spark plug wires, spark plugs, distributor cap and rotor while you're buying parts. They're part of a tune-up and they could be the whole problem. I've had to change distributor caps/rotors when I've had vehicles sitting for a long time. Moisture gets in, and makes things not work.

so do you think i should drain the gas tank still? i just put fresh gas in there with some sta-bil right before i tried to start it.. would it be alright if i just changed the fuel filter? my car is sitting in the not the best of places right now to be laying on the ground lol

i tired starting the car after installing the new filter and priming the system.. i could not hear any sign of the fuel pump whirring up or anything, just the sound of the seat belts going back... but did the whole "turning key to II, waiting for beeping to stop, then back to O, waited 5 seconds, did it again up to II, repeated about 5x," no luck. im guessing i need to change the coil, plug wires and rotor.. is there a way to check for spark without buying a cheapy spark plug and holding it close to a valve cover nut? the car has power, and another thing i noticed is the belt is moving fairly slow when its trying to start.. i dunno if that is standard for the engine or what.. im just thinking of selling it and getting a better condition 1993.. maybe NOT an RS.. but ill try other stuff before i go down that route.. i hope the fuel pump does not need replacing.. its too damn hot to be rooting around inside a black interior car..good thing i trashed all the stuff from behind the pass/driver seat back

*edit: would adding oil to the engine work? or would it need a complete oil change to be sufficient? somebody.. come help me lol

I'm having the same trouble trying to get my 91 LS started but its only been sitting for a week. I changed the plugs and plug wires a month ago when I changed the oil. Should I replace the cap and rotor before I move onto the fuel pump?

after peeping out the engine compartment for a bit.. i took a peek at the coil and the spark plug wires.. one wire has some kind of blue corrosion in the boot attached to the coil. so, im going to get a new set of plug wires, coil, rotor, and the damn fuel pump just to play it safe. because i dont hear anything when i turn the key to the II position.. just the beeping sound then nothing. and try to get to change the oil as well. car is in kinda weird spot to change oil.. wont be able to do it without getting bit by spiders and ants and maybe a snake as well since they have been bad around the house.. *sigh* if i would of known i was going to have to replace everything before i bought the car i wouldnt of bought it..

*edit: the boot with the blue corrosion crap, has no resistance when you pull it off.. it just comes off. so its not even attaching to the post inside the coil, like the other 3 wires are doing. the other 3 wires are connected good and are still the gold color, clean.

Damn that sucks bro. I think ima start with my dizzy cap and rotor than go from there. Cause I don't got the money for a new fuel pump atm lol. Hope you get your DA running bro

Don't just buy a new fuel pump because you can't hear it! Jeez, I wish I had money to just throw at a vehicle like that.

There are fuses and relays and switches that can make the fuel pump not turn on. Not to mention you might not be able to HEAR the fuel pump. Speaking of which, you don't need to root around the interior of the car to remove the fuel pump, because on a '93 you have to remove the fuel tank from the car to change it. The thing under the rear seat in a second generation Integra is the sending unit for the gas gauge, not the fuel pump. After you change all the tune-up related things; take a can of starting fluid and squirt a little into the air intake near the manifold, if the car fires you know you have a fuel problem.

If you are low on oil, fill it up. I would recommend changing the oil if it's sat for a year. I wouldn't even bother going through the trouble of pouring oil on the cams- they can oil themselves and i'm sure they already have when you tried starting it.

You don't need to use some cheapy spark plug in order to check for spark. Whenever I do I just take the spark plug out of the motor. You must attach it to the spark plug wire and ground it to the valve cover. (It must actually TOUCH the valve cover to test for spark.) Hold it by the spark plug wire boot- if you're grabbing the metal of the spark plug itself you might get a little shock.

If you go through all the methods of testing your fuel pump, PM me and I can sell you a fuel pump. I upgraded my fuel pump in my car for the turbocharger and I have my stock one sitting in a box I can sell you.

i read on another forum site that the fuel pump relay is under the dashboard on the drivers side, under the steering column, i saw a big square thing with wires going into it, said DENSO on it, couldn't really make out the numbers on it, i was trying to hurry, had to go somewhere and was getting eaten alive by damn mosquitoes.. im going to have to get a new fuel pump because i want to boost the car ASAP, but im sure after i do a leakdown & compression test i wont be able to, because i bet the engine has past the acceptable percentage.. where is the damn fuse or whatever for the fuel pump? me and my dad looked about the car, under hood fuses were good, the fuses under the dashboard behind the kick panel were all good.. this is aggravating me beyond extent! the heat during the day doesnt make it any better..

so the 'tune up' stuff should be: new plug wires, new coil, new rotor, and oil change. then spray some starting fluid into the intake manifold, and try to start it. gotcha.

sorry Prozon, for sounding like a little kid and complaining and crap, not having a real shop to work in, or good resources for that matter, its hard to work on this car out in the heat and not to mention, all kinds of bugs have made my integra their homes and having to deal with killing them and crap.. it gets annoying after a while.

dmcastillo86, i hope you get your car running too man! everybody should have a healthy running happy integra. but thats asking for too much lol

Prozon I tried squirting starter fluid into my intake 3 times like the can said and still nada. Ima replace my dizzy cap and rotor tomorrow see if that makes it start.

dmcastillo86, you have a spark or ignition issue.

The_Anima7or, be sure to let us know when you make any progress. PM me if you need a fuel pump.

prozon, sorry so late for reply, i went to advance today and got a new distributor cap, coil, rotor, valve cover gasket (painting my valve cover, may as well go ahead and replace the gasket), new plug wires, and some NGK plugs. going to remove the A/C stuff tomorrow too if its not too hot. need to remove the blower motor, heater core, cables, etc.. and since i found out the A/C compressor runs on its own belt, i can just remove it and the belt and im good with that. but ill let you know whats going down after i change all that.. oh, posted new pics in my build thread if you want to peep them out, nothing special really, just got my gauge cluster C/F insert, looks pretty sick! ill let you know if i need one, for sure. i may be boosting the car, so i was informed that a Walboro 255 fuel pump would be good to use to handle boosting applications.

getting the new deus ex game tomorrow, so i may just play that all day instead lol

glad to hear it castillo, i dunno if mine will start yet lol i have the valve cover off right now, but i replaced the distributor cap, coil, and rotor today.. along with new NGK plugs.. i have 8.5mm super conductor MSD wires too, but ill install them after i paint the valve cover. that thing was STUCK on the head. but, glad to hear you are up and running! maybe mine will start now lol send some of that good luck this way!
