Dumb question, Whats the difference between a 35mm lens and just using the stock 18-55mm at 35mm?

Any lens with a fixed focal length is called a prime lens. Primes usually have wider apertures which allow for better low-light shots and generally are sharper than zoom lenses

Any of you take video? What editing programs do you use? I've only tried one video so far, and just used basic Window's Movie Maker. I was also looking at sliders, stabilizers/steadicam, etc. Jeez those things get expensive. Might try the DIY $10 slider idea.
