Driving school?

And you should defiantly post vids of you doing some song covers. I would enjoy seeing them cause I was a former drummer haha

Yep. Driving school is for a 70mph in a 50mph speeding ticket I got back in November.
As far as posting covers, the thought has definitely crossed my mind. But, I don't have any recording equipment so it'd be difficult.

Just curious, are you sure that the thermostat works for the temp gauge problem? Good progress!
I've thought about that, and there is a good possibility that it doesn't or it's stuck open. It'll be getting replaced when I do the intake bolts and intake gasket.

Woah, slow down buddy lol. That's sucks though.
If you do have some equipment later on, do some covers :) if you don't mind.

Cool, good deal. When I was young and ignorant I got my Dakota and the temp gauge and heater didn't work. I drove it for two years like that because I thought it was just gauge and heater core problems. Luckily, there were no long term consequences of that haha.

Yeah. I have a heavy foot. I can't help it. I won't even bother to say how fast I was going about 1/4 mile down the road before the cop... Lol.
And I don't mind at all. I'll definitely do that when I get the equipment. I've been itching to do a drum cover for the past several months.

Yeah; the plan is to do the intake manifold bolts and gaskets, the thermostat, fix the coolant leak, drain and flush the cooling system, and refill with conventional green antifreeze all in one day. I'm not sure when this will be, though.

UPDATE! I have an interview at Advance Auto Parts tomorrow morning at 8:30. I wasn't even looking for a job. It's a funny story --
I walked into Advance Auto Parts last Thursday before class to get some parts. I was in my Mario pajamas and I hadn't showered. Take that into consideration, plus my different hairstyle and glasses, and then tell me that it isn't weird that the manager behind the desk recognized me from two years ago and called me by name. He asked me what I was doing for work and I told him that I'd been at K-Mart for the past two years, but then I asked him if they were hiring. He said yes and that I should turn in an application and then call him when I'm done. So, during break at school, I filled out an application then called him up. It didn't go through, so I did it again after he had me call him the next morning. Still no luck. He had me call him again later on that afternoon so he could check the computer. No luck. He had me call yesterday. No luck, so he asked me for some more information so he could get corporate to send it to him. He had me call again this morning and still no luck. I called him again about an hour ago and he was in the process of looking over my application so he asked if he could call me back. Not even 10-minutes later, he called back and he wants to see me tomorrow.

I should probably keep the fact that I have driving school tonight out of the interview... :p

Lol. If tht pay is better at Advance Auto Parts, then go for it! Employee discount would come in handy there.

Small update:
Interview went well this morning. They want me to have a 2nd interview, and if I do well in that interview, then I got the job.
I also ordered a clear anti-slip mat to mount my GPS on my dashboard.
I haven't checked the mail today, so I don't know if my replacement LEDs are here or not. Even if they are, I doubt they'll be getting installed today. Too cold.

What started out to be a good day turned into a bad day really quickly.
First, I found my coolant leak, which is good. The bad thing about that is that the previous owner said that he replaced the water pump, but obviously he didn't, because that's where the leak is.

Second, I locked myself out of my truck. Normally, this isn't a problem, but my keys don't work in the locks that are in the doors, so I can't get in.

Third, I noticed that my passenger's side rear tire was flat.

I'm not exactly sure when or where it happened. I checked the tire for screws and nails, but I didn't find any. The tire won't hold air, either. I have six wheels and tires in the back yard for the truck but none of the tires will hold air or are in any shape that I'd feel comfortable driving on, so I'm screwed there, too.

So, I'm driving my dad's Tahoe for the next two-days, and in those two days, I need to get my tire fixed and my door unlocked. This is going to be a challenge.

With all of that said, I was too hacked off to try and open the door without breaking the window, so instead of tinkering with that, my dad should be looking at both it and the tire when he gets home from work. I, however, decided to take two wheels and tires out of the ones I had in the back yard and clean them up, take the weights off, etc, to get them prepped for new tires, whenever that'll be (it'll be soon.). It's obvious that they'll need a few spots sanded and I'm planning on re-finishing the wheels anyway, but that's not on my list of priorities at-the-moment.

The plan for now is to get the door unlocked and the tire to hold air and hold up for another week and a half until I get paid and can get two tires. When the two tires come, I'll swap the good 245/45R17 onto the driver's side front so the front tire size matches, take the 235/45R17 off of the front and put it in the bed for a spare, and put the new 215/65R15's on the back.

I talked with my dad and went through the list that I had in my Dropbox (it's been updated: https://www.dropbox.com/s/tv0p0bkvxh8qzys/1997 GMC Sonoma, ‘Phineas’ to-do list.docx).
We got the driver's side door open. The new plan now is to track down a used 245/45R17 tire to replace the bad one temporarily. That'll be taken care of either tomorrow or Friday. The next thing I'm going to do after that is call around to a few locksmiths and see about how much it'd cost me to get new keys made for the door locks.
After that, I'll see about replacing those two back tires. My dad will be helping me with a coolant system test fairly soon, and then after that's done, we'll check and replace the thermostat if necessary.
So, even though it's been a rough day, we did get a few things done and I know what's next on my list.

I got a newer tire today. It ended up costing me about $50, but it has a 30-day warranty, so it'll work for now.

Here's the old tire. The orange circles are bubbles in the sidewall. There were five on this side and two on the other.

Progress today:

I got my 3rd door upper door latch in, came up with a quick solution to keep from locking the driver's side lock until I get a chance to get my door locks re-keyed, washed the truck, leveled out the tire pressure in all of the tires, and then I climbed under the truck to check for that coolant leak again. I don't think it's the water pump. When I looked at it the other day, I mistakenly looked at the wrong pulley. The pulley below the water pump was the one that was soaked, and it was soaked in oil, not antifreeze. So, I cleaned it off with some engine degreaser and will be keeping an eye on it.
After a little bit of an inspection, I noticed some orange drips coming from the area of the radiator. It wasn't enough to really be able to tell if it was where the leak was coming from since I only drove it around the block, but it was something. I'll be keeping an eye on that too. But, no leaks in the hoses and the water pump is good, so I'm thinking that it's the radiator at this point. My dad should be helping me pressure test it, soon.

Anyways, pictures.

Temporary locking mechanism block-off plate -- cardboard and two pieces of Velcro. Hey, it works.

New(er) tire.

And, a clean truck.
