On my h22/23 frank motor that I fed with premium gas and drove 70 miles round trip 5 days a week to school and work. It was tuned and all and I was getting about 25mpg. I calculated the difference between our local regular vs premium gas prices for one year at my currect mpg for Shell gas. This was a few years ago but it ended up being only about a $750 difference. IMO 750 a YEAR is worth the extra to run premiun...

Spend approximately $3.00 extra per fill up or risk damaging the motor(notice I said risk)...is this really a hard decision?
the gas i run in my motocross bike is 16 a gal so just spend the cash and save your motor... ik plenty of ppl try to cut 50/50 with this gas with 14/1 comp and they fry ther motors so why risk it at all???

I'm going to sound like a prick, but hear me out. You're already saving $200 a month. Don't be a cheap Ass, spend the extra $3. You'll be glad you did in 100k miles when your motor still runs like new. Just saying, and its. a common saying here, "gotta pay to play"

Suspended hatch had a pretty good answer once when this question popped up, but in my opinion your engine (granted it has a functioning knock sensor) will realize the pre-ignition and compensate when this happens, which may include retarding or advancing timing as well as increasing the fuel supply to increase the A/F to ward off pre-ignition.

I always use good quality gasoline and premium gas. 100% of the time.
I have a GS-R too.

When I use cheapO gas it seems to go to waste a lot quicker. I don't get the same MPG.

I have a 92 GS and the few times I've put in premium (once the jockey did by accident, didn't have to pay!) I've gotten about 100k less a tank, and this seems to be the opposite result of everyone else. Any reason why?

100k
is 100,000

You had a 100mile difference in a full tank? That is way off. You could pull that off if you were on a track really smashing on that throttle.

I had a 90 and I got better MPG switching to premium.
I only did it a couple times because it's a waste on an LS.

I was just cleaning the injectors and fuel filter with an additive.

I only use Shell or Chevron in my ride and sometimes I have to buy it near work (rich white people's area lol) $4.54 a gallon so $4.19 isn't anything to complain about... a few days ago down here in SD I know costco was down to $4.05 for 91 and Arco was about $4.09
