knocking noise from engine

well if you're on a tight budget and want a running car, just swap in a b18a1. You could get one for about $400. Find a friend that has pulled engines on cars(preferebly hondas) and start going at it. Its not that hard to do. Just takes some time. I swapped one out with a friend a couple years ago and had no clue what I was doing. If you're wanting a gsr motor, thats gonna cost you a little more though. Look at prices on a rebuild kit too for the gsr. It may not cost too much but I really have no idea.

any idea's on where i would be able to find an engien that cheap everything i have found is like 2k and higher. I didnt even know they mad a rebuild kit. someone told me it might be the oil pump has anyone or does anyone know if the oil pump is going out will it knock like that.

also if its the rod bearings you think these would last long enough till next tax season and you think it would fix the problem

Craigslist, ebay, local junkyard (goodluck) or honda/integra forums. This site, teamintegra, hondatech, d2ic(do they have classified section?)

if you get the same engine you have now, you're gonna pay some money for it. The engine I'm talking about is from an ls integra. This is a downgrade in engines from your current engine. You should be able to find them at junk yards. I would only do that if you only wanted a running car. There are other parts too that you would have to get to make this motor work. Axles(maybe) ecu, wiring harness, motor mounts. There might be more.

We cant answer that. Other people have said it was the rod bearings, but we cant be 100% sure without you actually opening the motor up. It would be a good start, and would benefit your motor, but that may not be the end-all for this situation. Take into account the downtime for fixing your motor/replacing the motor too, if you do not have a secondary vehicle to use. a one day job can turn into a week long job if you figure out you need something you cant get locally, and have to wait for it to get shipped.

nothing from nowhere
i heard some valve train noise but when you got underneath it had a distincitive rod noise, you need to rev it up to 2000 rpm's if it starts really making a knocking noise i say its a rod brg.

you might as well get another motor in there and piece together the b17 cause that rod will only get worse and cause more damage.

you probably need to unbolt both but I havnt payed attention to how the exhaust goes over the oil pan. You gonna start tearing it apart?? I dont know if I would do that not knowing what I'm doing.

well if you're tearing it apart, once you get the oil pan off, you're gonna have to unbolt the oil tube that goes to the oil pump and plate(not sure what they're called). Another 1200 10mm bolts.
