The argue is that the time wasted time by Bush. The hurricane hit early Monday morning and he wasn't there until Thursday. When the twin towers fell, where was Bush? Right there the next day. We're susposed to be the greatest nation in the world and we can even resuce, protect, and help our fellow citizens until it's too late. This is what their arguement is.

My question is: Where was the government the first two days? Where was the government when the inmates were released? Where was the governemt when the women got raped? Where was the government when the people got shot? Oh...I forgot all the troops were sent to Iraq...by Bush. He says that he's going to investigate this? But, I'm sorry to tell you, but isn't the President the "Commander in Cheif?"

Adding to what Teg Sox said, Im in the NAVY and Im in this disaster effort as I speak, Ive been here even before the hurricane hit just waiting for my scuadron to deploy in case the wost happened, I was supposed to return home from my 6 week deployment in panama the second of this month, but we all chose to stay in the gulf area when we heard the hurricane was in the visitnity, so far we have rescued over 500 people from their roof tops, we also participaded with the national guard in evacuating the convencion center in downtown new orleans and also delivered over 9 tons of supply to those in need, so for Kanye West to say something like that on tv knowing that people listen to him and hes an influence to alot of people was very wrong and shows what lack of knowledge and lack of common sense he has, you think that we cared what race of people they were , even that, when the tsunami disaster occured in indonesia my sister scuadron got deployed for that, and do you think they cared about what race they were?...no not everybody thinks that way, this is America and those people affected are Americans too, they would have done the same if it happened somewere else ... he is NOT here to judge anybody like that with some childish coments like that.. yea there were some bad desicions made by the state goverment but you got to realise that people knew this was going to happen 5 days in advance and they still stayed,,not counting the elderly and sick.. and also pretty much the whole city was flooded wich meant only HELOs could get in within the first few days so we did what was humanly possible with with what we had ... anyways again what he said was pure BULLSHIT plain and simple...

Your comparing apples to oranges comparing 9/11 to this. 9/11 occured over 10 square blocks, the area was secured and brought under control very quickly. This hurricane destroyed hundreds of square miles of land over 3 states, but what does Bush showing up to look at the mess have to do with anything? If this happened in Texas he'd be there the next day? That's speculation I disagree with. I totally agree that the politicians dropped the ball in preparing for the hurricane, but that preparation starts at the city and state level, not the federal level. It's Louisiana's Governor who dropped the ball primarily. She left the buses to get people out in the event of a major disaster in low lying areas, they got flooded and we're useless. She thought that 4,500 N.G. troops would be sufficient in the event of a major disaster, wrong again. She didn't ask Bush for the help they needed, Bush isn't allowed by law to send N.G. troops into any state without the Governor of that state's request and approval. So to recap: Governors fault first, Mayor second, Federal (Bush and FEMA) third.
Where was the Government the first 2 days? Well, that's the government for ya, it's a huge, beuacratic colossus that can't move on a dime. That's not an excuse, just a fact. I was disgusted myself how long it took to get rescuers, security forces, food and water in there too.
Where was the government when the inmates were released? That was a local decision by the New Orleans PD, the Government has nothing to do with it.
Where was the governemt when the women got raped? Where was the government when the people got shot? Like I said, the lack of preparedness of what could happen if the levey's broke by the Mayor and Governor of Louisiana left the area in chaos after the storm.
In events like this, the Government isn't going to hold your hand....it isn't able to. This was the largest natural disaster in the country's history, how do you prepare for that? There's almost 300 million people in this country. If you think that if your involved in the next disaster, natural or manmade, the government is going to be there the next day with a helicopter to rescue you, food to eat and water to drink, your in for a rude awakening. Your gonna be on your own, fending for yourself. Don't count on the Government to save you.

I lost a measure of respect when Kanye said all that junk on live TV. I think the craziest thing he said was that the National Guard was given orders to shoot black people. Even NBC (no pals of Bush or republicans in general) knew how ridiculous his rant was, and they edited it out before it went on the air on the west coast. Kanye's one of the few rappers nowadays I can stomach, music-wise. Him, Pharrell and Dr. Dre are the only Hip Hop producers out there making decent beats, imo. Kanye's first album is sweet, and "Golddigger" is the bomb. I already knew from listening to his first album that he's was a typical far left nut. I think to be a rapper, it's a requirement that you're a left wing nut, a conspiracy theorist, and think any and all Republicans are the devil incarnate. What came out of his mouth doesn't suprise me. It's just as ridiculous as when Jadakiss said "Why did Bush knock down the towers?" in "Why". More idiotic conspiracy theory, that's all they have, they don't want to be confused by facts that might challenge their preconcieved ideology of how the world works. Diddy and Jay Z have gone on the record as agreeing with what Kanye said.
Here's a fact for you Kanye, Sean and Shawn (if you guys have any interest in the facts). George Bush has appointed more blacks (and Hispanics, to boot) to more high level Government positions than any President in our history. Condolezza Rice is the Secretary of State, a black woman.

Suffolk, well the town of brookhaven where help suffolk is located is trying to move them all into a shut down motel at one of the worst school discricts in longisland beause they want the land to build homes that they say is affordable!!!! cough cough bullshit.... an average home on long island costs 300,000 thousand and thats not new either, there promoting segeration by moving all residents who mostly consist of black people into a black area.....this happens in our country all the fuckin time, god forbid they move them into a empty hotel in an all white area

I agree the goverment wasnt there as soon as everybody hoped like you said tex but you got to see this first hand to fully understand the level of destruccion here... its like a whole other country, I was mad to when after the hurricane had passed that only us and a couple of nacional guard and coast guard helos were the only ones fliyng and the feds hadnt show up yet,, the thinking was ' weres everybody' wheres the help, flying day and night looking for people then realising that I trained for this but never thought I would be doing it in my country got me thinkin that we were everybody for now and people are depending on us.so it is now that im fully seeing how much mistakes and bad decisions key people made in this disaster... yea is a shame but were gettin it done as fast as humanly possible and thats what matters and yea BUSH HAS GOT TO GO!!!!! Ive been in the military for three years and have been deployed to irak 3 TIMES!!!!!! ITS CRAZY everytime I go and when I come back some of the people I left with didnt come back home with me ... its a waste of time and peole are dying for nothing

I hate George Bush more then anybody, but some of the things you cant control. They tried to stop that shit, and a cop got shot in the head. People are just stupid, I saw both looting and looking for food. I saw a picture of a bunch of people stealing jerseys, and a picture of people taking food. There is a big difference. I'm still amazed these people were stealing tvs, I guess they figured a couple gallons of water running out of it wouldnt hurt it. I think I would haave taken food, but a part of me would say go to the car shops and find some volks. Then you would figure out, what good is a tv if the whole fuckin city dosent have electric. I dont think I would be able to steal the volks, I'd rather eat.
