Alex I have to disagree with that one. Sometimes you can cause a lot of damage by not upgrading parts lol. Say running stock rods with 500hp, break a rod and you're also going to lose a cylinder, possibly the whole block and maybe take the piston and head with it.

Bad juju. :thumbs up

Yeah I know, i've already been toying with the idea of building an all motor car for my wife lol. Only problem is I am the type of person that if I am doing something, I am going all out. I really don't want to dump another 10k+ in a 20 year old Honda. So I think I will live vicariously through a friend or something haha

He's got a point, but I think the idea with the OP was that he didn't want to spend 20k on his car right now to get a reliable 500hp.

what ive been saying is leave the head alone. for 500whp touching the head isnt needed. Bottom end for sure.

Stock heads will flow enough to make the power, will they hold up to take the abuse becomes the other problem. To make high power requires high revving. Stock heads don't like the RPMs that are needed to make the power, thats why a built head is needed. Not only that but any time you can obtain more power with less stress on the bottom end the better. I would agree stock cams if they are ITR's or a fresh set of GSR's.

Laskey Racing FTW that is who built my bottom end and I would never have anyone else do a motor for me outside of Mike Laskey

I was looking at Laskey Racing too for my next build, simply because the parts are only slightly marked up from what I could get them- and it includes assembly and blueprinting. So it's a fairly good deal imo.

bottom line

stock heads will make 500+ my point the entire time LOL

built heads are always nice, but if youre working on a budget, dont fix it if it aint broke, or going to break :D
