GSR Tranny vs Type R Tranny

How you like my v-tec?
I know I know...your probably ready to reply quicker than a Type R off the line about how this topic has been done countless times and I should search before posting and blah blah blah.

And trust me...I have searched..and not just this site but I've searched Team-Integra, Hondatech, SuperHonda and I even went to CarolinaHonda...needless to say I found information/opinions about both tranny's, but I never could get a conclusive answer to MY Specific set-up.

So, this is why I'm posting this sad, sorry and Old topic around again like a worn out shoe.

I have a LS/Vtec setup (GSR Head w/ LS Bottom). I recently had a B16 Tranny and it took a dive so I'm looking to get either a Type-R or the GSR tranny.

Type R: Because for the obvious, LSD helps Off The Line and the gears are tall like the B16.
GSR: It's cheaper (for one) and the gears are longer. And I've been told GSR tranny's go better with Turbo set-ups which I plan on doing.

So, my question is with all these variables. Which DO YOU THINK would be better with my set-up? I understand the Type-R is better off the line, but this is my daily driver/racer car so most of my races are in rolling positions so the LSD is not Primary to me. Plus later on I could always add put LSD.

But maybe I'm wrong and Type R is better with Turbo and/or supercharge set-ups. Let me know from your experience...not OPINION please 8)

I've always wondered. Is there a 6 speed for a b series motor? (not trying to thread jack but that'd be bad ass if you could have a 6 speed.

ITR if you want quicker acceleration, but cruising on the hwy expect your RPM's to be higher = poor gas mileage when compared to an LS or a GSR. Is the difference negligable? Probably. The LSD is always nice however.

GSR IMO, seems to be a nice middleground between the b16 and ITR. Like you said, you can always add in an LSD. Mfactory LSD's are really affordable nowadays. Im using a gsr/quaife combo and I love it very much with the boost.

GL OP.

An ITR tranny is a B16 and GSR tranny in one with the addition of LSD.

1st is the same in B16, ITR, GSR
2nd B16
3rd B16
4th GSR
5th GSR

Reverse is the same in B16, GSR, ITR.

Do you have a reference for that by any chance? ^^

Though the gears may be the "same" the final drives are not.

both what? gsr and b16?

I find that weird, im almost positive a B16 transmission on a GSR (rather than a GSR) would result in shorter gears. Perhaps im thinking of something else.

The gsr and type r, as well as the b18a1 ls tranny all share a 4.4, the b18b1 and the jdm b16 y1 tranny have a 4.266 fd.

There you go.
I have seen this info in more than one place too. This seems to be correct.
Some of you guys are wrong. I think I also saw a video of the making of the ITR.

Here are your gear ratio's for the gsr and type r tranny's
Type R:
1st: 3.23
2nd: 2.105
3rd: 1.458
4th: 1.107
5th: .848
Final Drive: 4.400

GS-R:
1st: 3.230
2nd: 1.900
3rd: 1.360
4th: 1.034
5th: .787
Final Drive: 4.400

For a DD I like my gsr tranny compared to a type r since the gear ratio's are taller, but I wouldnt mind the 4th and 5th being a bit more taller. Changing gears is most likely gonna run cheaper than putting in an lsd.
