best buy sucks

I bought a $500 TV at Best Buy back in the fall, 2001. The kid asks me if I wanted the Extended Warranty, I said no thanks. He reminds me of all the stuff it covers and everything, I say no that's OK. He keeps at me about, saying he can't believe I really don't want it, he basically came within an inch of saying I am a moron for not wanting it, starts getting an attitude and everything. I got really pissed at him, he was making me look like an ass in front of other people in the store. If he hadn't already swiped my CC, I'da said "just give me my credit card back, I don't want it anymore". I left really pissed off at that prick, and vowed never to make another major purchase at any Best Buy, and I haven't. In fact, later that same night, I went across the parking lot to Circuit City to buy a PS2, a memory card and GT3.
Unfortunatley, I like the layout of a Best Buy store more than Circuit City's, but I only go to Best Buy anymore to buy CD's and DVD's or other misc. small stuff.

and that person they have at front door that greets you....freakin annoying. Leave me alone.
yea, i think they get an extra percentage for selling extended warranty.. which unless you're a complete moron with electronics dont really need. manufacture warranty is usually enough. my friend used to sucker people into buying it when he worked at compusa, if they didnt want it, he'd birng out the box all bashed up from walking into walls and stuff.

Best buys is as usless as a sack of diarreah unless you are throwing it at the geek squad. I had the geek squad come to fix my system it was more f-up when they left took 2 days and the manager was a complete tool. Is there an Apple store in your area the people at the Genius Bar there might be able to see if the pins are the hard drive are out of line (ticking sound) and tap it on the counter (not slam). I can't play mine in my 98 teg with the cigarette lighter and transmitter causes surges knocks the hard drive out. Works every where else fine.

Alright. I'mma knock all this out.

I'm a Supervisor for Best Buy @ my store for the Media dept.
Let me clarify that we DO NOT work off commission. So those that don't get that. We DO NOT gain ANYTHING by selling you the Extended Warranty. AKA "PSP or PRP"
The Warranty is a VERY good program. I mean honestly think about it. Shit happens right? Well when shit happens with Manufactures Warranty *depending on which brand* You pay shipping there, pay for issue *sometimes*, have weeks if not months of downtime, then pay shipping back.
Recall is different.
Also a way that they charge you for repairs is this. Plain and Simple the title. "LIMITED Warranty"

Everything I buy from my store, I get a Warranty with it. Hands down. Games, TV's, Gaming Consoles, Sound Systems, Computers, Monitors. The whole 9 yards.

As to other people talking about the customer service @ their local store. Go to other stores, Believe me when I say that attending meetings and functions out of state for my work to do my job better, actually helps and I get to see others and hear their ideas. Now granted some Management sucks but that's EVERYWHERE.

Directly, as for your friend from CompUSA is just immature for not getting what he wanted apparently.

Best Buy can not make every employee be Mary Poppins for you. Though we do try to educate the employees to fit everyones needs.

Some people...I swear...

I'm really sorry about that. I don't know why he pushed so hard for it.
Not that I own the store but, I'd really say reconsider the fact of never making a major purchase with us. What you should do is next time you go there, if the gentleman is working, as the yellow shirt guy @ front, which is known as the "LP" and ask to see a manager or the GM. Inform him of the issue that occurred so he is aware and if more complaints happen or more issues arise, he can act accordingly to the issue.

The "LP" is there for the safety of the stores. He asses risks and basically is the security there. His job is that and to greet everyone. Kind of like a conversion starting. That simple "Hello, How are you?" Gets him many questions about locations of things and ends up a happier customer as long as we have what they're looking for. Lol.

I don't wanna sound like Best Buy is the greatest company in the world, but it's not as bad as people think. I used to think people worked off commission and were just trying to screw you over and sell you a bunch of Bullshit. It's actually called "unmet needs" Items that you don't necessarily know you need or know about. Ideas for future purchases. Or simply items we think you'd like.
Not going to lie but some employees..sadly.. will try and sell you everything and it's sister.

Ok, I'm done ranting. I just hate seeing people have the wrong idea when I work there. Lol

Are u serious TegSox...I remember one time a Best Buy sales person was showing us what printers they got, and of course I don't really need help but just cause I had 4 old people with me he was putting on a sales pitch trying to sell me extra ink for the printer and I said I don't need it in front of everyone. Now heads turn back and forth between us, as if he's trying to win their side or something. And he basically had the attitude as if he knew more than me cause he finished school and was working... mind you I'm an IT major and I make at least double what he makes right now...how dumb can it get...what a turd. Glad I have somethin called patience.

Well, darkangel, the rest of the times I go there it's ok...just that one time above ^^

I dont know, but after the compusa shut down, and he went to work for a bestbuy, I think there was some sort of incentive/bonus pay for selling a retailer extended warranty. I remember at compusa they had a stamp card thing that accumlated, so each paycheck would receive some kind of bonus pay from commission+ext. warranty.
