I really like those old 2-doors. Someone around here has a MINT one. Its pretty sweet. Kinda reminds me of those old coopers. But a type-R in one of those baby's and see what happens! lol

it cranks like it wants to turn on, but it doesn't want to give that little extra..
checked:
fuses (good)
sparks plugs (good & clean)
battery (good)

gotta check:
sparks from the distributor > wires
wires > sparkplugs

and thats all I got.
any other ideas ?

Get some wd-40 and spray it into the intake. see if the motor stumbles trying to start then or not.

Don't use a lot... just spray a little in

EDIT: By intake i mean strait into the TB, not the filter. Have someone else crank the motor if possible while you spray.

I will try that next. But for now, I checked the distributor > wires, and didn't notice any spark...
Question, if the distributor has not spark, will the car still act like it's going to turn on, but doesn't give that extra ? or will it just click/tic/etc ?

If the distributor doesn't work the car will still turn over and try to start just won't. Thats why you try the wd-40 trick. If it stumbles like it started that means you have a fuel system problem, If it doesn't then you have a spark problem.

if the problem has to do with fuel system, wha would it be ? pump ? lines ?
I have a fuel gauge, and it's reading at around 40psi, would that be wrong ? and can there still be a problem ?

is that off the rail? It could be your injector circuit, but I'm doubting that. If you're reading fuel pressure it shouldn't be a delivery issue.

Pull out (one at a time) your spark plug wires and set it next to the valve cover. see if a spark jumps to the valve cover when you crank the motor over. If not, its most likely a spark issue. Just make sure to hold it close to the valve cover.

You may want to put a battery charger on your car so you don't kill the battery.

From there it could be your spark plug wires or your dizzy. In worse cases it could be your primary/secondary coil.

is there a way to do it without having it on top of the valve cover ? like a screw driver?

you could hold it and touch the frame if you wanted... lol

It won't hurt your valve cover, but if you wanted to you could get just get it to touch something metal. maybe to the block or something? I guess just a ground. If you use a screw driver you'll probably get a good shock so I'd advise against that. lol
