I don't hate Hondata, I hate what Hondata has done to the tuning community. I am ALL ABOUT tuning your own engines and learning and knowing as much as you possibly can about your setups. Hondata does not allow you to do that (unless you're an official Hondata tuner, but that doesn't help anyone else knowledge out.) You pay big bucks for an ECU that's "on lock down" and provides basically zero end user features. It's up to the tuner. Therefore most people running Hondata don't have a freaking clue about their engines actual running conditions and have no understanding of what engine tuning entails. Hondata (and other propriety tuning software) breeds ignorance. That's why I prefer the DIY route which my personal favorite is currently Crome and I encourage anyone and everyone to try it out or start hanging out with DIY tuners like myself to gain knowledge.
Is that a full-race top mount header or another brand?
Also, what did you do to the trans?
Cage is awesome!!! I'm loving this thread more and more everytime you post pics and details
damn you are doin work!!!
Well, you are an odd case. lol! Most people do things a little at a time which is the perfect opportunity to do some tuning for yourself. You use those "little at a time upgrades" as tuning opportunities until you learn and understand. Then when you're used to the process, that's when you take on a project like this build you're doing now. I'm not knocking you for using Hondata and I certainly respect that fact that you don't want to take a chance of blowing this investment by tuning for the first time. One thing I will point out is that with the Hondata, you're not going to be able to make track-side adjustments like you could with Crome or another DIY tuning program. You could actually increase your chances of achieving the 10 sec times you're shooting for with a little track-side fine tuning for atmospheric conditions, temperatures, elevation, and so on which can also help with the longevity of your build. Do you know anyone local in your area that could maybe help you out with Crome tuning? They can use your current ECU so that's no extra money out of your pocket. You would learn more too and I promise you'd feel comfortable doing your own tuning down the road after you see it done a few times and that very well could be the best thing for you long term. Just putting that out there. If you're interested, I can try to find a Crome tuner local in TX that might be able to help out with this?I'm not about to try to tune a boosted 30PSI, Nitous motor on the street. Due to having no koowledge on how to work a dyno.
Thanks for the compliments. Im not baller, i just handle my money well and pre-meditate my spending well. Also, due to having a helping hand and able to do my own labor; the overall cost is SO much cheaper.Very impressive build thread bro! Very inspiring. I'll be saving up for a long duration just like you did. When I first saw how much you were doing and buying I was like dam this kid is a baller, lol! Even still you said you spent most of that saved up bank so you have to have a good money maker to be hitting up these kind of parts and work each week. Keep up the great work and speed of the work!

Better watch out, you're starting to sound like a DSM owner  Not many people dyno tune in the DSM world either. Most of us just get a wideband and datalogger and get to work. Not to mention the system I use for tuning also has superior datalogging capabilities compared to what most dyno shops use. DSMlink datalogs every sensor imaginable at a rate of 1000 frames/sec.Therefore most people running Hondata don't have a freaking clue about their engines actual running conditions and have no understanding of what engine tuning entails.
