91 integra not sure of the problem

With that low of compression and it blowing smoke and back firing I'd just rebuild the whole motor such as buying the complete head gasket rebuild kit that comes with every gasket and gromet and seal you'll need for around $300 to $450. You can do the piston rings with the block still in the car. The toughest job in my opinion is changing the valve stem seals since they are so deep into the head and the retainers are so small and hard to hold on to.

it would overheat if was stopped at a light for to long and if its hot out but it would never go into the red it would just go a lil before the red only happened twice i live in GA so its really hot and then i found out my fan wasnt working so im hooking it up to a switch right now

My fans don't work and I didn't ever overheat the entire summer, and it gets damn hot in Colorado. That's either your thermostat being bad or a blown headgasket, in your case, headgasket, I'd start there and see what happens

more than likely you will be able to just change the head gasket. make sure you get new bolts! pretty easy job, change your oil and radiator fluid like the others said. Make sure you inspect your head very close! if it has over heated it can warp and or crack. take the head to a motor shop and have them look it over for you if your new to this. best of luck!

Oh ya, definitely get it resurfaced, and pressure tested, it's like $50-$75 at my local machine shop, and that's without my shop discount

Im having similar issues. Cylinder four in misfiring for me. I just recently had a valve job performed on my head about 48hrs ago. Replaced the head gasket, intake manifold gasket and one intake and one exhaust valve (done during valve job along with valve stem seals). Started it up after reassembling everything and cylinder four still misfires. Havent ran a compression test yet but im sure that cylinder has low compression. In the case that it does what should i look in replacing?

What motor do you have?
b18A1. Tested the #4 cylinder compression and it was pretty low. So now im looking into getting the bottom end rebuilt. Anything I should look into doing while Im getting that done to add a little bit more power or at least prep it for some. However i do want to stay as inexpensive as possible.

Just kind of jumped in here.

If you're rebuilding the motor- remove the block. Sure you CAN do it with it in the car, but the CORRECT way is to pull it out and have it machined. If the head is off why would you NOT take off the extra ten bolts to pull the block?

ARP head studs. Maybe do as Hgo said and swap out the pistons. :thumbs up

when you blow a head gasket, the damage is internal. Thats why you see white smoke. the smoke is the water evaporating. If there is no oil in the radiator, there i a really good chance you have not damaged the rings. Take off the calve cover, remove the bolts or the herad and clean and inspect. if everything looksgood just replace the gaskets.
What the hell are you even saying? You could have NO rings and you still wouldn't get oil in your coolant. If your getting OIL in your radiator that would indicate a cracked block.

What are you even going to tell from removing the valve cover? If you have a bad head gasket there is a chance you will have coolant in your oil. It would be milky looking. However with compression results like that- it's time for a rebuild. No question about it. Those numbers should be almost 4x as high.

Buy some arp headstuds from me! Just make sure to resurface it. Dont cheap out
x2.

Here is a write up I wrote about changing the head gasket. It could help you on the rebuild. I would suggest having a machine shop pressure check your head, resurface as needed- and hone your cylinders. Have them order you new bearings and piston rings. You could probably handle the install yourself if you have a piston ring compressor and a torque wrench. (You can rent one at autozone if you don't.)
