Get a cai not a short ram.
Short ram is a waste of time and money. The point in getting an aftermarket intake is improved cold air flow and a short ram defeats that purpose.
Also u need a header if your expecting to really gain anything.
Not completely true, having a cai would be better because colder air = better gains but you also run into the problem of sucking up water into the engine if it happens to rain it's ass off while your driving. To avoid that you would use a bypass filter BUT the bypass filter is also going to allow hot air into the intake tube defeating the purpose of getting cold air.
A short ram air intake isnt completly worthless. It doesn't suck in as cold of air because it's obviously in the engine compartment, but you can get a heat shield and have the filter placed as far away from the engine as possible. You Never have to worry about sucking up water unless you drive through 3+ft of water.
They both have their goods and bads. I guess it would just be someone's personl preference. I had a cold air intake before and got caught in a rain storm. I ended up sucking water up in it within a few minutes of raining and killed the engine. I got stuck in one spot for 3 hours. I eventually changed it to a short ram and you can't even tell a difference in power to be honest.
