how much horsepower does it add?

You will notice maybe 2whp up high.
You will lose torque.

Short Ram - Usually best for Vtec. Most power up high.
Cold Air - Best for Non-Vtec. Cold air provides more torque.

100% agree. I bought a SRI, drove with it on for awhile, and had to put the stock air box back on for smog. I honestly felt a huge difference, the SRI killed my low end, I had pretty much no torque at all. However, with the SRI, there was a noticeable difference at higher RPMs. I've yet to try a CAI, but since it only rains ~3 months here I might get one soon.

Get a cai not a short ram.
Short ram is a waste of time and money. The point in getting an aftermarket intake is improved cold air flow and a short ram defeats that purpose.
Also u need a header if your expecting to really gain anything.
That's an opinion. Look it up. Mine worked wonders, and have NEVER had an issue with "heatsoak". And with CAI you run the chance of hydrolock, which is ghey. Granted, low end sacrificed, but it makes up for it higher up IMO

Get a nice SRI unit and make your own ice box set up to accompany it.
There is a DIY on this site somewhere. If you want to do a very simple Icebox, use the stock DA airbox all you a have to do is remove the baffle from the fender area, get a 90 degree bend pipe, 2 couplers(of proper size), and a velocity stack. It all fits together as you would expect it to. If you wan to get fancy, get a G3 airbox and do the icebox set up as the DIY shows.
It offers the benefits of a CAI in the colder, denser air but doesn't have the risk of hydrolocking your motor as the filter is not down in the fender well. Also, I prefer it because it isn't nearly as loud as an SRI or CAI when you're on the throttle.

Also, to those of you claiming you felt a huge difference from stock to an SRI, I don't believe it. Changing just that gives you 6-8 horses(average), an I don't believe the dynamometer in your ass is that accurate.

Or you go with the cai setup, use a bypass valve to keep the incoming air dry, make sure you thermal wrap the piping so the air coming in is actually cold then you should see some actual gains

i just almost hydrolocked my baby the other morning shes all good now though im looking for a stock airbox now to do an ice box. i loved my cai but the risk of bending valves and breaking rods isnt worth it

You kids need to learn about intakes.
CAI is not always better than SRI. It all depends on your setup and goal.

Must I remind you guys of ITBs on some race engines.

If youre staying stock id definately go with short ram jusf for the mere fact of hydrolocking and the slight power increase from the CAI would be felt on the low end, but it would be hardly noticed.
CAI would be good for the B18A to build its low torque. (Its strength)
