We usually party saturday nights, and since it's going to be really rainy, just figured we'd have a hurricane party. The most it's going to do is mess with power. Unfortunately, my dad's a jerk about me going out when the weather's foul, so he's going to confine me to the house this weekend. As if I want to be stuck in a power outage with those people...Hurricane parties are the best! I've had some of the best times during Ike and Rita. Get a metric s*** ton of beer, ice and meat.....and kick back and enjoy a few days off with no power and not s*** to do but eat, drink and entertain yourself in various ridiculous ways.
It's funny when I see people preparing for hurricane somewhere else. Home Depot is packed full of people trying to buy plywood, batteries, flashlights....everyones panicking for water and canned goods, etc.
When a hurricane comes to Houston, Spec's and other liquors stores are packed with people stocking piling beer, liquor and ice. People piling in to buy charcoal and stuff to grill while the powers out. The first things cleared out at the grocery stores are not batteries, water and such. It's beer, ice and steaks.......
When I lived in FL this is what we did. Of course we did have to do the boarding up windows thing, because 3 canes coming back to back to back isnt to be taken lightly. The biggest thing was ice, that shit becomes a precious resource in a hurry. For the big three back in like (99 ish) we went all out on a big ass generator.Hurricane parties are the best! Yea its nice to fall to sleep to one. I love storms so I find it relaxing. But on the coast would be a bit sketchy, because it really is the water that does all the damage.we stayed through one in the outerbanks, it rocked us to sleep in the house. the next day was beautiful. didnt really do alot of damage
That is the truth. I keep that well stocked come hurricane time. Can't be having my beers get warm on me lol. I have 4 120qt. coolers so I do alright. The biggest thing was ice, that s*** becomes a precious resource in a hurry.
