Need ideas for going N/A

I'm a noob and need ideas on what to do to get the most out of my motor without going boost. I've thought about first rebuilding the head or getting a GSR head or Type R head and port n polish. Right now it sits as a stock B18A1. I'm currently working out the kinks it has for having 130000 miles on it. Any ideas or feedback will help. I'm not looking for big numbers just something fun for the street its currently my DD :)

There is not a whole lot of power to be pulled from these motors without going boost. I suggest an LS/Vtec setup or swapping motors completely.

Ya I've been looking around for some used Vtec heads. I just want to build something mild for now since this will be my first build. As far as cams go what would you suggest? I also know that boring the engine can give it more hp also right.

Cams, cam gears, Intake, header, exhaust, MSD ignition components, pistons, rods, tuning. You can even get into like port and polishing, machine matching the intake manifold to the head etc etc. Might be looking at 190ish to the crank with that I believe, I'm no expert with numbers though

if you want to keep it your DD and have 200whp its pretty much impossible
here are the NA routes you can go, ls all motor, or ls vtec

on a LS all motor, you take a gamble, my boy Jason (mirroring) had type R pistons and a 403 cam and was only able to pull 145whp. 200whp is achievable however it wont be a daily driver, it requires alot of precise work to get that as well as sourcing a p8r head whihc is from a b20 off of the honda ophoria.

LS vtec at 84mm is known to make 275+ at its upper limits.
But you should be able to make 200 easily with some skunk2 components and a bottom end that can support the pistons

Ah I see so sounds like its best to go LS Vtech. Would it be better to do a engine swap or swap the head? If I can get around 200hp I'd be more than happy. Just looking for a little power and reliability.

different people will say
b series, k, j, g, h

I personally prefer the tried and true B series for a daily driver, hell i have one for daily and track. To me the K20 as a daily driver is just a "hey look at me im a douche bag and i have hella money", i dont think the K (i live in CA so this is how i see it ) is a daily drivable motor unless its a legal swap due to the harassment issues so ive always seen it as a track motor. H may not fit in your car etc etc

The best to stay stock. Type R obviously. If you want to do a light, mild to heavy build. GSR all of the way!
Type R can be built too, but whats the point of forking out more money for it when you're going to swap internals anyway?

B series is the easiest to swap since you already have the foundation set.
Get a JDM B16 1st gen Cable tranny mated to your Vtec engine.
Converting to hydro is just a pain in the ass and the conversion kits suck balls.

In all honesty, I would be happy with a JDM B16 OBD0 swap. I'm not power hungry, just like the extra kick in the ass.

the hasport hydro cable kit works well thats the best one ive seen and it gives a good pedal response
