the hasport hydro cable kit works well thats the best one ive seen and it gives a good pedal response
I've heard bad things about them too, but never personally used them. I like the feel of the cable tranny anyway. Why switch anyway when theres B16 Cable with LSD too and they're cheaper. lol

dmcastillo86, absorb the knowledge, let it envelop you.

Hehe, but really, these guys all have good suggestions. Whats your budget anyways?

The problem Ive heard about is the cable breaking and leaving people straded. Replaced it and it happens again. That would piss me off if it happened to me lol

The LS/Vtec would be cheaper for you but I too would rather buy a new engine but noting is cheap lol.

Heres what I would do for a cheap build that should be extremely reliable. B18C1 engine.
parts list for block
rs machine pistons for $200
Arp bolts for the rods $70
all new oem bearings $180
oem oil pump $100
oem water pump $75
oem tensioner $60
oem timing belt $40
oem bottom gasket set $45
total for the block $770

The cylinder head really depends on what needs replacing and how many miles are on the motor.
Id reccomend this list.
top end gasket set $190
valve guides $115
ITR Intake valves $120
oem exhaust valves if you have the money $225 otherwise supertechs at $110
ITR intake valve springs $75 and switch your current intake springs to the exhaust side
Total for the head $725(with oem exhaust valves) or $610(with supertech exhaust valves)

So your looking at about $1500 just for the parts and you still need a motor. And that will give you a build that's slightly more powerful with room to grow. If you add a performer x intake manifold, some ITR cams, and a good exhaust system you could hit 200whp.

Also here's a link to a B18 non vtec build that you should check out that has 200whp

Not very likely though, it's a pretty beefy cable.
Ive seen pics of them after the conversion and replaced multiple times and people complaining about em. Idk, I would say it would be due to the conversion piece design. Maybe it works, but isnt as realiable. Idk like I said, I never bothered to deal with it, just in case when I had my DA. I just stuck to cable.

I had my clutch cable pop out at 1am. I fixed it the next morning. Still left me straded though until I noticed the next day.

$1500 for parts, and Still needing a motor...not really a good choice for someone on a budget. Lol. I mean, that's what it costs...but ya know.

you can get a full swap for 1500 including transmission and ecu etc.
rebuild kit 300
machine work 400
for a stock rebuild, add what ever performance parts you want on top of that

I'm referring to the OEM cable, not the conversion setup. I don't know how that works.
I just bought a new clutch cable and it's beefy as hell lol.

Believe me Proton I'm absorbing it all :) like I said I'm new to all this and loving the research I've been doing. As of right noow I don't have a budget I'm still trying to work out the little things that needs to be replaced to keep it going till I can get another ride and put this one aside and really tear into it. But I've been looking on craiglist and been finding a couple of nice looking engines for sale. But I'm just getting ideas and knowledge atm
