might be your iacv or maybe you need to loosen the throttle cable a little bit, my car was idling high like that before and i loosened the throttle cable a hair and it stopped

I haven't even seen it today lol. I have it parked in my shop, just woke up, dressed and left home. Probably going to get my VC gasket changed tomorrow and dry out my cylinders a bit. (Bad tube seals, filled them with oil.)

I think I like you, just because you're the only one who reads my build thread. :D
That wouldn't fudge anything up permanently? Is it a bitch to drain?

Yay! Friends! Haha:D

I got the VC back on. Installed new seals on the wastegate.

I ordered the valve seat I needed for the waste gate, it was $25 shipped. I was looking for a box to pack my pistons in and I picked up my wastegate box, guess what was inside? Yes.. the damn valve seal thingy.. sent the place an email to try to cancel my order before the seal shipped..

Anyways. The car is running, it's running a little.. "odd" but I will get it figured out later. I took it down the street a few times. It has a lot more "ooompth" lol.

I'll update when I get it running how I like.
That's the way it goes, once you give up on what you're looking for, you find it.

Well it's boosted.

Current problems:
It still idles funny. It's got that up and down idle thing as if I had a vacuum leak.. but instead of jumping from say 1100 to 1300 rpm's, it's going from like 1100 to 1150. It's just the most minuscule surge. Can't figure out whats up with that..

I also noticed when I barely touch the throttle, it jumps up a bunch. Say I want to go from 1100 to 1200, I baaaaaaaarely put the most tiniest amount of pressure on the pedal and it goes from 1100 up to like 1400. It makes driving at slow speeds impossible. My IACV plug is messed up, so it won't stay attached to the IACV. It has fallen off twice now making the idle go all loopy. I just went out and put RTV on the IACV to hold the plug on.

Anyways.. anyone have some suggestions on my issues? Going to Google it now and see what I come up with. Didn't have any problems before the turbo went on.

Thanks for reading kids, i'll keep you posted.
Next to none.

So I bled out the coolant hoping that would help, and it didn't.

If I give the throttle a little blip it jumps up real high, kind of bounces at the top of the rev, then it goes down, then back to the original position.

For example:
Idling at 1100.
Barely touch throttle.
Jumps to 1500.
Then goes to like 1550 immediately. (As if I feathered the throttle.)
Drops down to say 700rpms, then stumbles back up to 1100 or so.

These arn't the exact numbers.. just an example.
That is all quite strange. How much boost is it at? My car does the little up down thing (Where you rev it, it falls real far, then stumbles back up) but it always seems to stay level once it does. It's not anything vacuum like you had suggested?

I've been messing with vacuum lines so much that it honestly could be, but I've went over all the vacuum lines and have not found issues with them. I even put zip ties on all of them to make them tighter lol.

I think part of my issue is fuel related. I'm going to hook my pressure gauge up to it tonight and see what I can come up with. I also ordered an aftermarket fuel pressure regulator and an air/fuel ratio gauge. I also have a car alarm in the mail too, just because. Lol.

I could deal with the RPM's falling down a bit after I let off.. but kicking how it does, really bugs me. It makes low speed driving impossible just because it feels like your hammering the throttle when you're not touching it.

Oh and the method for getting the oil out of the cylinders-
Remove spark plugs.
Remove fuel pump fuse.
Turn engine over.
Wipe up oil.
Turn engine over.
Wipe up oil.
Reinstall spark plugs and hope it all burns up. Lol.

Yeah, it sounds like it would be quite annoying. An alarm is always a good idea. And thanks for the info, good to know if it ever happens.

Bought a new valve cover gasket. Will change my valve cover and install the new gasket, got some new spark plugs too.

How much boost is it at?
Eh, roughly 7psi.

My car does the little up down thing (Where you rev it, it falls real far, then stumbles back up) but it always seems to stay level once it does. It's not anything vacuum like you had suggested?
I sprayed starting fluid around all the vacuum lines to confirm there are no leaks. So whatever it is, is definitely not vacuum related.

My next guess is fuel pressure regulator, throttle position sensor or map sensor.
Checked my fuel pressure and it was a little higher then it should be, but just barely.

An alarm is always a good idea.
Figuring out how to wire up the alarm should be......... interesting. Shock sensors for break ins. Remote start, which I will probably not install. Remote trunk popper. Warning incase my door isn't shut all the way and a hood sensor so if someone pops my hood it'll set my alarm off.

So it's running super rich. Getting an air/fuel ratio gauge and fuel pressure regulator to hopefully tweak it a little before the tune to help it out. Oil got all over my engine and i'm not sure how. I'm going to change out my valve cover gasket, which I know the tube seals leak, so hopefully changing it stops the oil leak. If it doesn't i'm guessing sandwich plate or something more serious. I'm a little worried because it didn't drip.. it seemed to spray all over my motor.

I also ordered a new clutch cable. My clutch currently only has to go down about an inch to be fully engaged, so the clutch cable should help lol.

I'll keep you all updated.
Thanks for reading. :)

Can't wait to see it all come together :D you going AEM wideband for the air/fuel system? Need to get one myself. Hope you can fix the issue!

I keep talking myself out of slapping a turbo on after my build and then I get update emails on this thread and have to start the process over

Looking forward to this :D

Easily the best decision ever made. Even in the process of installing it I was thinking "Wow, this is fucking lame, never again."

But now that it's on- BEST DECISION EVER. I don't think I can ever go back haha.
I can't wait to get it tuned right. How it drives now I can barely touch the throttle or it floods the motor and basically bogs it down. It's pretty damn fast how it is too. It will probably be another month or so before I can get it fully tuned, so it's a little depressing I won't be driving it much if at all.

:naughty: Hubba hubba. Hahaha. Looks good man. Suck that you got oil all over that shiny new engine. Was that clutch just a bitch being so short? And I dunno much about turbos and the like, is 7psi like a good middle ground for power or what?

Well it's the lowest I can run. I have two other wastegate springs that will run higher pressure.

I'll get the engine bay washed.. AGAIN... today lol.

Oh I see, I always thought there was a lot more to running a higher psi. I bet oil is a cunt to take off. Why do you have to wait until the end of the month to have it tuned?

Kris, make sure the throttle cable isnt so tight that it is actually holding the plate open. If thats the case, then when you blip the throttle, you are going from partially open (rather than closed) to a lot more open.

Keep up the work. It wont be so much fun when it runs perfectly and there are no issues, at least thats not the case for me :)
