Bought a '90 Acura Integra GS yesterday.

Today, I did an oil change with Valvoline 5W-30 full synthetic and a Bosch oil filter, replaced the plugs with NGK V Power units, and the wires with Duralast replacements. I also emptied a bottle of Gumout fuel system cleaner into my near-empty gas tank and filled up afterword.

I have a problem. During idle, my tach points below the 0 RPM mark. Once I start driving, the tach functions, but will drop back down to below 0 when I am at a stand still or cruising in neutral. Also, my speedometer wobbles like crazy while driving. I'm 90% sure the gauge cluster was swapped from another car. If I can't find solutions, I might just take a video of the cluster to give a better idea of what's going on.

And on the headlight switch, there is an off selection, then a small circle, followed by a bigger circle. Which bulbs are supposed to light up when the small circle is selected? The bigger circle? Thanks!

Thanks guys. Just ordered a Haynes manual, B&M short shifter, and ES shifter bushings. I'm excited. :D I think a CI lanyard is next...

the small is off, the middle circle is the parking lights ( tails, signals..etc) and the big circle is headlights

Thanks man, I appreciate it.

Just replaced the fuel filter. There is an "in" arrow and an "out" arrow on the replacement filter. I hooked up the line from the firewall to the "out" arrow and the line from the injector rail to the "out" arrow. This sounds ass backwards to me, but that's how it originally was on the old filter so I hooked it up that way and it runs fine, no leaks. Any input?

Also, I am getting some pretty bad gas mileage, around 100 from half a tank. I mean, I am a spirited driver, but this seems bad. Thoughts?

My whole exhaust is pretty rusty. I haven't inspected the whole system, but the muffler is bad, there are tiny holes that you can feel exhaust gas leaking from and when I shut off the car, you can hear a farting noise from it. Could this be the cause to my poor gas mileage?

Get a short RAM intake, and basic tune up parts, next tank do some bg44k, and check tire pressure. That'll help your mileage a lot. How many miles?

The odo shows 148K, but I looked up the past emission results and the paper read 238K. This explains why the tach and speedo are off, the gauge cluster has been swapped. Who knows, the engine might have been swapped in as well. Getting this car in top running condition is my main concern. I'm seriously contemplating buying an eBay exhaust. I can't stand this gas mileage and the idle is bothering me.

Check the VIN on the dash, engine bay, and motor stamp. That should tell you if it's been swapped. As for the wobbly speedo, there's a piece on the back of the tranny I believe, mine was messed up so I got one off a teg in a junkyard. You'll have to look it up in the Haynes manual because I can't really remember where it's at. Pretty clean car as far as I can tell. You might want to take out your injectors and clean them out real good with some carb cleaner. That MIGHT help a little with the gas mileage. It's an easy process and would really help if there's anything clogging them up

Hey you might have to get a new IACV or clean the one you have out, usually cause of idle problems with this car, but nothing really serious. mines doing it but i have yet to put the new one on. very clean car though, i bought mine with new paint as well. always a good perk but what do.work said " how much you pay for it?"
