welcome bro. im giving you rep for getting a haynes manual. ride looks good and clean!
Thanks! My first rep! 8)

Check the VIN on the dash, engine bay, and motor stamp. That should tell you if it's been swapped. As for the wobbly speedo, there's a piece on the back of the tranny I believe, mine was messed up so I got one off a teg in a junkyard. You'll have to look it up in the Haynes manual because I can't really remember where it's at. Pretty clean car as far as I can tell. You might want to take out your injectors and clean them out real good with some carb cleaner. That MIGHT help a little with the gas mileage. It's an easy process and would really help if there's anything clogging them up
Thanks for the advice man, I'll try some of it out.

Hey you might have to get a new IACV or clean the one you have out, usually cause of idle problems with this car, but nothing really serious. mines doing it but i have yet to put the new one on. very clean car though, i bought mine with new paint as well. always a good perk but what do.work said " how much you pay for it?"
Thanks man. I paid $1,850.

nice ride i just got one 3 weeks ago and i am new to this site too! your speedo cable is worn take off dash or just see if you can wd40 where the cable hooks to the cluster it may work especially if its noisy inside it willl work for sure did worked for me, if not then the problem lies where the cable hooks to the tranny. if your xhast is rusted to shit then your cat needs work i assume so if you get a new cat and muffler(whole xhuast) mpg will improve a bit. as far as your idlle problem you checked idle control valve?

Thanks guys.

Just installed the short throw, and the difference is huge. I believe B&M advertises a 28% reduction in travel, but it feels like 50%. On top of that, there is a more precise feel when selecting gears. Didn't install the bushings because I got the wrong ones. I thought I got the right part number, but one look at the bushings side by side showed that they weren't correct. Oh well, I'm still happy.

I have yet to fix my idle problem, and my gas mileage still isn't great, but other than that, things are solid. If I come across some money, an exhaust and test pipe are up next.

One comment about the short throw: After installation, the knob will obviously sit lower, thus requiring a farther reach. Now, I bought the straight stick model, but if I could do it over again, I'd buy the model with bend. The reach isn't unbearable, but it's just something to think about.

Also, I took off my stock muffler today. It sounded like it was full of pebbles when shaking it. The car's a lot louder now, it sounds decent, just a tad bit raspy. Oh well, the muffler is staying off until I can afford an exhaust system.

Alright guys, I need help. A while back, I noticed that my alternator belt was starting to tear. Well today, I gunned it and tore the belt to shreds. Immediately after I pulled over to confirm what I knew had happened, I drove to a local shop to have them slap on a new belt. While driving there, my clutch pedal felt noticeably different. It had a rough feeling to it when it usually would have a smooth linear motion. The shop replaced the belt, and as I was driving home this issue became more severe. When shifting gears, my shifter felt rough and even had a second gear grind. There is a noticeable difficulty in changing gears. The shifter has a hard time getting into a gear and there is the weird whining noise (not grinding) whenever I attempt to change gears. I got home and took a closer look and saw shreds of the old alternator belt tangled in my driver side axle. I got under the car and got out what looks to be all of it. I also noticed that the little boot where the shifter linkage connects to the transmission was covered in gunk and torn up. I haven't driven the car again, I'm scared, but does anybody have ANY input?
