It's about timing the market. You always hear, "Buy low, sell high", but it's amazing how many people don't follow that basic rule. I buy houses for less than $100k that were selling for $350k in 2005, lol. Sigh, the market in it's hay-day

Its funny how much nicer a house can look from the outside with some landscape improvements and some fresh paint. Jobs look good.

A very close friend of mine has the same issue in his household. The father works as IT for one of the top corporate broadcasting company's in the US. Makes very good money. Has over 1 million in savings and some money in stocks. But the house, is so f***ing neglected. I don't understand how the family can live in that kind of environment. Must because of the alcohol.

That's crazy, some people are lazy, but most people don't understand the necessity of paint. If you don't paint your house within a reasonable time, the wood becomes unprotected and prone to pests and dry rot; especially lower trim pieces and pylons.

Also, paint is pretty inexpensive, and you can cover a fairly large area with a bucket. Pretty cheap way to make you house last a bit longer.
My buddies house, that I mentioned, has a lot of drywall missing on most of the walls in the house. Its basically wood with that putty stuff (plaster?) on some areas.
Rotted wood, mold (used to be really bad), unnecessary shít everywhere including the attic, garage, both sides of the house, backyard, and pretty much inside all of the rooms. The exterior is decent. The wooden side fence is as old as the house though. Hey the front yard isn't so bad though, lol. I cannot understand the logic here...sad. And I am used to it. Due to going there over the past 10+ years.

P.S. You do an excellent job with these home improvements.

Thanks for the compliments! And yeah, sounds like a couple houses I've been in. I've seem some of the worst houses. I have a couple that were pretty bad in there own respects that I'll post. We didn't get the deals so I don't have after pictures, but they're interesting to look at

Sacramento house, dubbed the splatter paint house because they used a box with a bag as a restroom and splattered fecal matter all over the wall =/

They filled the toilet, then they filled the bath rub, that's when they started using the box. We don't have a picture of the box though :(


This is a house that someone had passed away in... Seems like he should have gone on the show Hoarders

The entry, about 2 1/2 feet of garbage in this area, soaked by water, no ceiling as you can tell. "Oh, there's my front door"


The kitchen gives you a good idea of how high the trash is


He really likes produce bags and coffee cups, from what I can see


From the hallway into the bathroom. The trash was more abundant in the rear quarters


Sorry if your appetite has taken a hiatus from these pictures; but could imagine walking through the property, lol
