It's not because the Japanese thought it was "over the top", it's because they thought it was ugly haha. The bugeye front end was available in Japan for a short period before they switched due to the unpopularity of it.
And the front end is based on the DA's, not the Accord's.

I'm implying that the 98-01 front is hot. The others are not lol

To the enthusiast, yes it's a big difference, but the average person would spend some time trying to spot the differences.
I personally think both front ends have their pros and cons and wouldn't go through the trouble of converting no matter which one I had..but that's just me.

I stand by my 94 front end. I like it more than the 98-01. I felt the same way, that it was ugly before but i love it now. But people have their own opinions and style. Its all about how you pull it off and if its effective.

I'm pretty sure its impossible for the Japanese to think anything is ugly based on the monstrosities that have come from that island.

lol yea idk i got a 04 and lately ive felt the urge to change up ny front end i wouldnt mind a 98 front end and keeping my 94 rear bumper.

as far as gsrs go becuase i noticed this thread isnt even talking about that personally i think db2s are pretty rare. i used to have a friend that owned one it never left his house. b17s are starting to become as expensive as type rs i wonder why ? who knows but imo id put a b17 over a gsr or b16 all day. can u imagine the look on ppls faces when they see a b17 most ppl dont even know that motor exist....u cant even ebay a b17 swap....

I like the 98-01 front end better than the 94-97 as they have a meaner look to them. I wouldnt spend the money to change it though.
