If you think about our country's beginnings, not being able to speak about religion in public schools is actually a very sad thing. Settlers came to America in an attempt to get away from being persecuted for their faith. Why? Because government got involved in religion, which it should not do. I'm sure we can all agree with that. But, the way I see it, not permitting religion to be spoken about in public schools is a form of religious oppression by the government. They are getting involved in religion by suppressing the right to "practice" your faith in school. Whether you believe in God or in the flying spaghetti monster, I do not believe that the government should be able to tell you when you can or when you cannot discuss or "practice" your faith. And then there's the whole discussion on freedom of speech, which is another long topic altogether that is better fit for a different place and time. But that's just me. Everyone has their own opinion on this. Don't mean to step on anyone's toes.so how do you think us non-religous people feel right now?
And i'm sorry, but if religions can't be spoken about in public schools, they shouldn't be here- on a piblc forum.
IMO go join a religion forum, not hog our bandwith.

Agreed. I go to a large university and have lived with athiests, Muslims, fellow Christians, and people with all sorts of other beliefs. It's never been any problem whatsoever. At most we'll talk about our beliefs and leave it at that. Sure...here or there one of us may try to get the other to consider our beliefs as opposed to theirs, but, when done with respect, it never causes any strife. As you said, attacks from EITHER side get us nowhere quick. Especially when concerning religion/beliefs or politics.Where do posts like this get us. I think the best thing we all can do these days is debate, it helps you learn about other people's beliefs and thought processes. Attack posts from EITHER side get us nowhere quick.
x4 Merry Christmas! To all fellows Christian believers: Merry Christmas to you and yours. Stay strong and believe in the Lord our God. We shall see each other soon in his house.
